Jenny,
I did not need TOEFL as I am from England and did my LLB in the UK which is a fully English degree...
My downfall is that I am only 21 meaning I have 0 practical experience apart from summer work experience. I am sitting my NY Bar in 2 weeks so fingers crossed. Apart from that I went to a top 20 university, graduated in the top 5% and all my previous qualifications were A grades so in terms of England I am pretty much there or thereabouts Academic wise

Givemeajob: You're so young!, thats maybe the reason because they rejected you. Think that JD students are 23 or more, and I believe that most of LLM are older than JD's.
Don't feel bad, you will have a lot of opportunities in the future, if you decide to applied another time to some Law Schools.

Thats what I am worried about, and why I don't think I will not get in anywhere because of my age. But I am doing the LLM to help consolidate my New York Bar, if I pass the bar exam, I will want to work in NY and for that I think I will need an LLM to stand ANY chance!

STOP being so pessimistic, i'm only 22 and have been admitted to Duke so the age is obviously not that big a factor. anyways there could be plenty of older peple than you who have neither the expierience nor the qulifications you have. remain hopeful!!

Irishlad,
Me? Pessimistic? I really don't know why you said that... I'm a first time sailor and don't have any idea on age influence on decisions.... In fact, I hope everyone is admitted wherever we believe it's our dreamschools...

Dear ,
Your application for admission to our 2009-2010 LL.M. Program is still
under active consideration by our Graduate Studies Committee. I am sending
you this message now to let you know that, while the Committee was
impressed with your credentials, it has decided to defer a decision
until later in the year. Your application is now in our Standby Group,
described in the attached statement
We are sorry that we cannot give you a final decision on your application
now. The Committee fully understands that its inability to reach a final
decision at this time may create difficulties for some applicants. Some
candidates will prefer to make or may have already made alternate plans for
next year. We hope that your original interest in the Law School will
encourage you to keep your application active here. As the Standby Group
statement indicates, you should send me an e-mail indicating whether or not
you wish your application to receive further consideration. If I do not
receive an e-mail response from you within the next two weeks, we will
assume that you are no longer interested in attending Chicago.
Best Regards,
Richard Badger
Assistant Dean
