Its december -s that a really quick reply or a really late reply? Thye must want you.
Posted Dec 14, 2005 11:01
gues it a real quick reply,,givn that its th first univ. (amongst th ones i applied to) to hv announced its decision for llm program beginnin 2006..
Posted Dec 14, 2005 11:06
Maybe this suggests you are a quality applicant and you should wait for offers from "better" law schools. Not to take away from GW, maybe you're too good for GW to get such a quick reply!
It is quick, 4 weeks.
Wait for your other offers - from ivy league schools?

is ther nyone else who has heard frm GWU??

Hi, I've got admission from GW on the end of November, too. It's quite quickly (about just three weeks) so that I am a little surprised at it. But I may not accept its offer as I also got admission from Georgetwon recently.

so 'aprilchen' r thez (GWU n Georgetown) th only univs. u applied to?? r u not goin to wait for admission results frm othr univs. or hv u decided tht georgetown is wer u wanna b..
Posted Dec 14, 2005 16:17
Oh, of course I am still waiting for other schools. But I still feel a little hesitate because GW has a very good reputation on IP law, especially patents. That's what I am really interested in.
Posted Dec 14, 2005 16:28
well if its IPR that u want to specialise in then i think u shud b joinin GWU instead of georgetown, wich tho is a bigger n more reputed neighbour, but in ur particular area of interest GWU is long known..
also georgetown admits bout 300 odd students n i wud have a tough time not gettin lost in th crowd..bt large no. of students is both an advantage and a dis-advantage (u can c frm the 'admitted georgetown' thread that almost evryone got thru..eithr evryone registered on this website has a gr8 CV or i have to start believing in coincidences)..

Hey guys,
Admitted to GWU too! sent applications mid November and received e-mail Dec. 2. Will receive a response regarding scholarship by March 2006. A friend of mine recently attended the IP LLM program and speaks greatly of it. Besides Washington is a nice town and probably the least expensive of Washington, NYC, CA, Boston. However, I suppose I might as well wait from responses of other schools, and especially scholarships/waivers/grants.

I was admitted to GWU in late april this year. I was unable to join this fall because of lack of funding. It's struck how difficult it is to obtain legal studies scholarships. I could've taken out a loan but i was unsured as to the prospects for repaying it after graduation. Fortunately, i was awarded a deferral letter till next year so i'm looking forward to receiving some aid from my government (DR) or from other Institutions i've applied for scholarships; and if nothing ot the above works, i may request an international student loan if i'm lucky enough to run into a creditworthy Us Co-signer. In regards with the gross of applications they're forwarded each year, one GWU admissions operator informed that they usually receive around 700 hundred applications for the 100 places at their disposal. I also sent them my thomas buergenthal scholarship application and i'm hoping for a positive response in late april or early march. I think it is a fine Law School and its most salient, unmatched advantage is the location at the seat of the US Government where the law is in ongoing action. Also, You are most likely to be favoured with mentorships, externships and interships since there area myriad of government institutions, NGOs, Non-profit organizations; hence it is more likely that you'll put to practical use what you've toiled to acquired.

astroturf, I'm applying for an scholarship in the field of International trade, but i've also petitioned financial assistance in the area of IP Law (GWU is ranked 3 in US News Report). My intention after graduation is gaining an intimate, hands-on knowledge on the US Legal System. That would obviously require some work experience whether paid or not. After the f-1 visa deadline has passed over, i intend to come back to my country and work for any top-notch law firm here. As to the location, i think it is unbeatable considering that it is just 4 blocks away from the white house and the FMI and World Bank are across from the Law School. By the way, i've read that the land on which those 2 Institutions are built belongs to the University and it is presently on lease. This year, i also applied to University of Indiana School of Law- Bloomington, and i was generously awarded a 6000 sholarship. Moroever, i've also solicited admission into other universities i didn't have the chance to apply to. They are Columbia Law School, Northwestern University School of Law and University of Michigan Law School. I guess that if i'll pick up the law School putting forward the best offer. As i know how touch it is to gain acceptance into top 10 law schools, i might wind up into GWU, which is also a fine law school too but it is not held on the same high esteem as the Ivy-Leagues.

perhaps u can consider Arizona (Rogers) as well because its known to be strong in Int'l Trade and has a great faculty!! but ya since you want to work for a while in US it may be a better option to pick the higher ranking GWU which presents more oppurtunities primarily owing to its location..

How come GWU LLM can not be applied on line? Should I print the pdf application forms out and write on that?
