Admissions Difficulty level

hello all

I am a law student receiving a JD from a 2nd tier law school. I would like to eventually teach, but I have been advised that an LLM is almost necessary because I am from a 2nd tier school.

How diffucult is it to be admitted to Harvard, Yale, Columbia. I plan to work a few years at a firm before applying to the LLM. I mean in terms of GPA and such. does anyone know anyone who has a JD from a 2nd tier school and was accepted into those programsl?

thanks

For those successful at Yale, do you think there was anything that tipped the scales in your favour? For eg, what, if anything, did you emphasize in your personal statements? Did your referees emphasize any particular quality? What sort of background did you have prior to the LLM?
