I received an offer from QM a few days ago. I am studying it against other options. Do you know how the LLM compares against Oxford or Cambridge? In particular the International Arbitration programme.
Any outputs will be welcome.

Do you know if there is a facebook group or something for those who have received an offer?
Good luck to all of you out there. Hope to be meeting you soon.

Colorado Im sorry to hear that,,dont worry you ll receive some other offers,,be positive..i got rejected from kings college and LSE hehe but got accepted by UCL, Queen Mary and Edinburgh...It also depends on luck so dont worry at all!
pix their LLM cannot be compared to the one offed by oxford and cambridge. Those unis are way better but queen mary its still good so if u decide to go there you will also make a good choice

The above is right- you can't compare the Oxbridge programmes with those at the UOL colleges. Apart from maybe international law at Cambridge, you can't truely specialise at either Oxbridge institution (by that I mean take all modules in a single legal subject) and so it is pretty useless if you wish to begin very knowledgable about one topic. I received an offer from Cambridge last week but I'm still debating whether it would be better for me to go to QMUL as they offer a wider range of options in the subject I wish to study.

MTCicero, I think you have a point there. I have a similar dilemma (although not being accepted in Cambridge yet, it might just turn out to be a therotical dilemma :D): although I prefer the programme offered by Oxford and Cambridge, my professional experience is focused in one specific field of law, and I intend to continue practicing in that field, caeteris paribus. So I don't know if I should follow my heart and go to Oxdrige, or follow reason and go to QM and specialize further. Any idea how this decision might impact labour opportunities afterwards? Will I have more chances to find a good job in my field if I specialize? or would my job options remain pretty much the same, independently of where I study the Master's Degree?

Hey,
I have a rather stupid question. A couple of weeks ago I received an email from the admissions office that stated:
"Thank you for your email. I can confirm that the certificate you attached to your email provides sufficient information for me to make a decision on your application. You will receive confirmation of the decision shortly, once we have finalized it, and your fee status."
Should I interpretate this as postive, neutral or negative (since then I haven't heared anything)...
Thanks!

What it means is they don't need any more information from you to be able to make a decision. It says nothing about the decision they will make or even the speed at which they will make that decision. I guess therefore that it is neutral.

Hi
i'm currently pursuing a degree in law from india. my total average at the end of 7semesters is 62%(first class). i wanted to know whether i stand a chance in colleges like LSE,UCL,Kings and Queen Mary.
Also, does anyone know anything about the law school at trinity college dublin. i shall be passing out of bangalore university where 60%+ is regarded as very good, somewhat like an (A). what are my chances in the above mentioned colleges and could you rank the same(including trinity college)in order of prestige.

Your chances will normally be very good. The grade requirements per country are on the sites of LSE and King's College.
By prestige:
1. LSE
2. KCL/UCL (depends on your country, in mine KCL is known more)
3. Trinity

I send my documents to Queen mary. Do you know is it a good place for getting LLM and is it difficult to get a place there? I am from Moscow State Institute of International Relations of Moscow, Russia. And what are High Honors, Second class and etc. In my University we use the following systems of marks first russian, second bolongna.
5 (90-100) excellent
4 (75-89) good
3 (60 -74) not very good
2 (0-59) bad ( not pass)
My honors are nearly 4,3 (84)
Do I have any chances?

Just for the statistics .... it took them about a month to sent me a receipt of application e-mail :-D
Posted Mar 31, 2009 07:46
I got e-mail confirming that QM received my application in the beginning of February. I was given uncinditional offer (I'm kind of shocked, I thought it was complete waste) in a letter sent by regular mail (they didn't even send me a e-mail that they reached decision or anything). Peculiar. Do You know whether QM is a good place for Comparative and International Dispute Resolution? I'm very interested in ADR and everything around it as well as in Internatinal/int Commercial Law...
I have a qustion: is London much more expensive than Edinburgh?
Thank You in advance.

Legal_India,
no need to worry, I waited a whole month for an email of acknowledgement.

ya...that is great....a month to receive an Acknowledgment.....then what wait for 6 months to get an offer or rejection...!!!
I think KCL and LSE and UCL are faster than QMUL.....!!!
Whats wrong with QMUL.....its not that it is more famous than KCL or LSE....if KCL can respond within 4 weeks....whats the problem with QMUL....!
I desperately wanted to go to QMUL since the last so many years....but i am just loosing my interest if its gonna take so long...!

It took them 1month to send me acknowledgement and about 3/4 weeks to send me an offer. That wasn't that bad... Or maybe I thought that there is no chance I'll get there so I didn't look at calendar so often :-).
QM maybe doesn't havethe best position in the rankings but has the name that sounds so appealling and obvious...
Well, at least in my opinion :-).
Good luck!

It seems to me QM is not that well organized from an administrative point of view. I couldn't accept my offer for two weeks! First, the internet system did not work, then my emails were unanswered. I had to "ask QM", i.e email someone in the FAQ section of their web page, to receive a reply from someone in that uni!!
I think it's part of the glamour of living in London :D. I would take their administrative slowness with philosophy.

Hi, Everyone,
I've received an offer from QM. I've applied to several universities in UK for commercial law courses. Could someone please tell me which school is better in this area?
I've also got an offer from UCL.
ps. I'm waiting for Cambridge.
Thanks. :)
