Hi guys,
My college decision is made, and I've been admitted to Corpus Christi.
If anyone have information concerning this college I'm very interested to hear about it.

A super place. Small, in the shadow of Christ Church next door somewhat, but v pretty and scholarly. A fine choice.

I just found out I got into Balliol. Any word on what that is like?
Posted Mar 29, 2007 18:24
Flygirl, how did you find out about Balliol? I recently (yesterday) emailed them to correct my housing preference on the application form and they told me my file was under consideration with the Bailliol tutors. Hence, no news yet.. Anyone else who got his/ her college decision? Congrats btw!

So tempting to write ESP, smoke signals, telegram, carrier pigeon etc but sadly all it was was an email. I wouldn't worry, I am sure decision are being made on a rolling basis so no need to panic.

Hi, I have been admitted to St Edmund Hall. However I have also received a conditional offer from Cambridge and have not decided yet to which place I will go.
Posted Mar 30, 2007 01:42
were there any conditions on your college place i.e. financial? or any other conditions?

ok, this is mainly for Mila but I just heard that the married accommodation at the colleges in Oxford (particularly Balliol) are studios/bed-sits (as opposed to one-bedrooms). Not only that but you have to catch the bus for 20 mins to do your laundry. That sounds awful! My husband and I will kill each other as he will be unemployed and I will be stressed writing my thesis - and having to hang out in the same single room during winter...Ugh. Perhaps we should just end it now (joke)
Has anyone else heard this? Is that why the pubs are so good in Oxford - all the spouses are escaping their awful bed-sits?

LOL. Thanks figgie! That sounds bad for your marriage indeed :-)
Did you check out university graduate housing? They have actually quite decent housing for couples- sponsored by the university.

Also, it is not too hard to find housing on the private market is my impression- but it is quite expensive.
And yes, Balliol is not the best college for couple accomodation. I was told Wolfson is the best place for that.
Just curious: did you decide already between Ox and Cam?

Thanks Mila! That is helpful. Maybe you will save us from the drink yet...I notice that the waiting list can be a year long though! Eek.
I still haven't decided. It is getting ridiculous. I almost bought a ticket to go check out Cambridge over the weekend but figured that is just delaying the inevitable. One just has to choose. And both will be right.

Hi Hans,
Well done on being admitted - seems you were very lucky! I didn't get in myself - :-(
It was quite a shock, since I consider myself extremely motivated and reasonably gifted but you must have been even better!
Well done, Hans! You are the best!
Regards,
J.E.S

One more thing, guys
Dont buy your Subfusc before you know you've been admitted to college. I just bought mine (second hand) on ebay last week - it seemed too cheap to be true - as it now stands I'll keep it as a memento of what could have been...
Over and out!
Happy Easter everyone!

Hmmm...am abit confused..i was under the impression that (for Graduates at least) once you are admitted by the university, then admission by a college is assured (even though not by your first or second choice college). As such, an early purchase of suub fusc would not be imprudent:-/

Right, I believe if the Law Faculty admits a graduate student, that guarantees admission at a college. This used to not be the case, but I think it's changed either this year or last year.

By the way, anyone heard anything from New College yet?
Posted Apr 06, 2007 19:01
Any other Christ Church applicants had any news yet? I did call their graduate administrator this week and she said that those accepted to CCH as first choice should hear very soon (i.e just after the Easter weekend).

I haven't heard from Christ Church yet either, although I'm in Australia so if they send it by letter it will take a while :)
Has anyone received any further information from the uni? I need to contact them to try and defer acceptance for this year and am not sure who to contact or by when - I was hoping they'd send out some kind of big pack of information

I gave the New College admissions office a ring earlier today and was pleasantly surprised when they informed me that they've offered me a spot there as well.
I spent a year as a visiting student in Oxford when I was an undergrad and loved New College, especially the New College Bar. Hope to see you all there during term.
Anyone heard from any other colleges?
Best of luck!
