Oxford class/colleges for 2006/2007

Magnuss, JW - now I've saved you the trouble!

I'll kick it off: from Australia, mid-20s, going to magdalen. Have decided to go despite my fears about the workload and being impoverished for a year!

Twentysomething Canadian. I like dogs, movies, long walks on the beach, and the colour blue. I'm seeking an Oxford college for fun and good times, with the possibility of something more serious down the road.

(haven't heard from colleges yet... being overseas, snailmail takes foreveeever).

Dear all,

this is catcat, currently studying and working on my thesis in Taipei city, Taiwan. Haven't heard of any college yet. Compared with living in Canada, living in another corner of the world takes much longer to receive the letter....

to jw: you are so interesting, even posting your hobbys! that's nice! My hobby.....sleeping.....and trying to be an attractive and beautiful girl!! lol

catcat: actually, I was trying to be funny (though i guess that doesn't necessarily mean i don't like dogs, movies or the color blue). ;)

lol. *brainstorm* - jw - perhaps we should unite in an "llm-guide revolution" - take over the board and re-brand it as a dating service ('cos there's not enough of those on the net!) We'd be rich enough to snub even the mighty Oxford...(apologies- just been revising Nozick for a juris exam so I was momentarily blinded by capitalist fervour...must now get back to the drudgery of tax revision...).

I think we are just trying to make this thread relaxing and fun after the long waiting period.

JW - if I were you I'd email the college you listed as your first choice to find out whether you're in or whether your application has been passed on. If the latter, I'd email your second choice of college.

I found out my college via email about 3 weeks before I received the letter via the post. I think it must have come by a teeny tiny boat rather than by plane, it took that long to get to me!

@ jw: I have only just received the official offer letter from my first choice college (Merton), so it seems that some colleges are still in the process of sending out their offers. In addition to attempting to contact the colleges you specified on your application form, you could also phone the Graduate Admissions Office - they should be able to tell you whether you have been admitted/allocated to a college yet (this is how I found ot that I had been admitted to Merton before their letter actually arrived).

Ah, it looks like some more letters are arriving. Thanks for the suggestions folks!

A good friend of mine was at St. Edmund's Hall last year; he had a great time (his residence was also pretty cool - a two level apartment in an old monastery).
