Hey there Catty,
If i may suggest, you need not wait that long. the application, if i am not mistaken are on a first come first serve basis to qualified applicants, so the earlier you apply the better chances you have...that is my opinion. By the way which other colleges are you applying to?

Hi. I'd like to do my BVC in UK but with 3rd class in LLB, I'm not eligible so I'm thinking to do LLM because I checked out of the UK universities, I stand a better chance if I have LLM but must it be a LLM from one of the UK universities or I can actually do my LLM back in my country then do bvc in UK. Does the bar council recognise LLM from International Islamic University Malaysia or Malaya University?

Hi,
There is a BVC course offered by Cardiff university. But if you have a thrid class in LLB, then i think it will be really difficult for you to get an admission. But It is ok if you have an LLM from Malsyia. I have heard that unversities in UK only take the result of you last course before application (meaning you have to perform well in you LLM before you apply for the BVC) That of course is what I have come to know, further details can be had from the Cardiff University website. Good luck!!

Where are you from? Are you from india? Well, if you are an indian, then you have the inlaks scholarship and several others, but inlaks is the best. But if you are any other country, then there is the Gates, Shell and you have scholarship within some of the colleges in cambridge, like Fitzwilliam.. You need not apply now, for these scholarships, but you have to do so by 31st March for most of them, Also some of them after you recieve your admission (Inlaks). Good Luck with your application.

I am applying to LL.M. programs for 2007-2008, and I would like to propose a topic: I don't seem to have much of a problem formulating the top of my list, but I do have some difficulty (admittedly a North American student, I guess) determining which schools are under-rated internationally and should not be overlooked in the case that all of us do not get in Oxford or Cambridge.
I am not really thinking of schools like LSE, KCL, and UCL, which, of course, are great schools and generally would be near the top of anyone's list. I am thinking of schools which fall farther down the U.K rankings (no matter what you think of those).

Yeah there are some really good universities besides the top ones. But it depends on what branch of law you wish to specialize in. Aberdeen is a really good choice if you looking for mineral and oil law (LLM), University of Edinburgh is good . University of Essex has a specialization in Information Technology, Queen Mary and University of Nottingham is highly recommended. However a small question, why do you want to do LLM from some university that is not highly regarded internationally? Anyway you are going to spend a lot of money (if you dont get scholarship) so you might as well spend the money on a good law school.

Well, of course, I am hoping to be accepted by some of my top schools, but I am also applying to some of the schools you mentioned in your post in the belief that I have at least I will have a place to go if my top choices don't work out.
I guess I was asking the question: If you don't get into the schools you are really excited about attending, which schools would you be happy enough spending that kind of money on? It just helps me get the lay of the land a bit, and your post helped. Thanks.

Hello everyone, and thanks for the information you've shred so far.
Just wondering if there are any good LLM programs in the UK that start in January 2007?

Hi you all!! This trend seems to be a nice idea!!
I'm interested in an IP focused LLM and have applications already posted to KC, QM, UCL, Edin and Manchester for the 2007-2008 year. Not excellent grades but a ten-year background within the musical business.
Cheers,

Hello All, I want to apply for the LLM program for 2007 at Aberdeen which is supposed to be one of the Top Schools in the UK. Can someone please confirm this? Thank you.

Aberdeen is infact one of the best law schools, but then again it depnds on what subject you wish to specialise on. Aberdeen is known for its LLM in oil and mineral law. Anyway it falls on the top ten law schools.

KC and Manchester have confirmed already that their applications arrived this Friday. I guess the other three will do the same next week.

As soon as I get my letters of refference back ill be sending my aps to UCL and LSE....
Though I am a bit concerned. My grades arent excellent but I was a two time Jessup Moot Court participant in Washington, Student Council President in School, worked Pro bono as a public defender for a year and recently finished my law internship with Royal Dutch Shell.
Does anyone know if UK unis take these things into account? Or having failed a couple of subjetcs during my college years leaves me completely doomed???
Thanks for any feedback regarding my concerns....
pd.: I am a 24 year old South American student....

Villy, I am no expert at this but having gone through the website of several universities as well as several threads in llm-guide, i feel that anyother achievment is "normally" not a substitute for the universities required grade. LSE has advertised its respective grades required by students from different countries, for eg, an indian student needs to have a minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 5 and above. But your other achievements may be taken into consideration when you apply for the scholarship. Good letters of recommendations and personal statement could also get you through a few of the top law schools. However i dont think that i am the best person to be answering the question. If any one who has already did an LLm or is at present doing an LLM is the best peson to be answering your question, I think RUSS or JAZZMAN who are active members of llm-guide and who are at present doing an LLM in UK will be able to give you a far better opinion on your question.
