Cambridge LLM 2019 - 2020 Applicants

Congratulations Nameless! From previous years' threads it seems like that GAO's approval is a formality and they merely look into basic entry requirements like english language and minimum level of funding required by the candidate in addition to fees.

Guys, so far we have one instance of movement and one rejection. Any other updates?

For what it is worth, my LLM application status has changed to "Awaiting approval by GAO", which probably happened on Friday (assuming they have not been working weekends). So it looks like they have started to progress some LLM applications. Best of luck to all!

Hi all,

I am re-applying this year and have been (painfully) waiting for the results like most of you.

I got a first class for my first degree (in social sciences) and attained top 10% in class for my JD (CGPA over 3.6 out of 4, plus dean's list). I am also now practicing as a lawyer at a renowned international law firm.

My application was unsuccessful last year, and this year I had submitted pretty much the same stuff (same CV/academic results, similar personal statements and academic references). Just wondering what makes my application unsuccessful last year ... Am I a border-line case, or am I far below the academic threshold? Just wanna get some views from you guys while waiting...

Good luck to you all anyway !

(PS: my application status as shown in the portal is still "under review")

Hi,
I presume that grades are just a benchmark for entry and just a box to tick.

So assuming the academic threshold is passed, your personal statement and academic references count most?

Presumably, so long as your academic references can vouch that you are within the top 5-10% of the year.

Congrats! It’s got to be a very good sign. May I ask, when did you apply?

You will hear from Oxford/Harvard only in March, according to previous years.

In reply to people in this thread and who have PMed me: every year people speculate about whether the applications are processed in order of application date, surname, country of origin, star sign, body mass index, the openness of your chakras etc. The speculation always leads to nothing. Whatever order they do it in, it's not something that we can usefully predict. For now, the important thing is that they have started making decisions on applications and we will all find out soon enough.
