Cambridge LLM 2015-16

My CAMSIS status still reads "Awaiting Consideration by the Department". Any other Indian applicant in the same boat? So far only three Indian applicants seem to have gone to the BoGS stage.

When I had called the BoGS last evening (16:00 GMT), they gave a generic reply confirming that all the offers will be made by 15th March.

Same for me...what does it mean? According to the "how to apply" page "All Cambridge LLM application decisions will be released by 15 March 2015 for the 2015-2016 programme"...and..."If your application is unsuccessful, you will learn about this decision first on your online self-service page". Fine. But when???? Usually no news is good news, but i kinda feel that, in this case, no news by tomorrow night will automatically imply a rejection...?

I guess the rejections have started rolling out too. An applicant from the UK just posted on last year's Cambridge thread saying that he was rejected yesterday. From the previous years' threads it appears that few offers are made even after 15th March.

Has anyone whose CAMSIS status hasn't changed written to the BoGS / Ms. Wade yet?

Yes, I have. I emailed Ms Wade on Tuesday asking whether an unchanged status signifies a rejection. Her response was as follows-

Thank you for your email. No, it signifies that the decision on your application has not yet been made, but you should see an update in your self service account shorltly [sic] to give the decision.

Yours sincerely

Suzanne Wade

Thank you! I guess we need to sit tight for a day. I'll write to them tomorrow if there isn't any change by then. Goodluck!

I checked my CamSIS today after a week and found the BGS status update. It seems I am in too.

Nothing to be proud of, though.

Hi Guys,

I got my conditional offer! All the best to those who are still waiting. Currently seeking college membership.

To those who were admitted last year (if any), or those who are familiar with the process - Can I just check how we can go about getting a language test waiver? IELTS results came as a condition of my offer, which came as a (not very nice) surprise because my offer from Cambridge last year did not have such a requirement. Obviously I would prefer not having to take the exam if possible due to work committments and the fact that it's an added expense.

On a separate note, IELTS would not be a requirement for the Visa application right? I'm from Singapore.

Guys, the admissions office guy said yesterday that the offer will be made either today or early next week so don´t worry if you don´t hear anything today, they are probably just running late (surprise surprise). Also, because the system takes ages to update, even if all the departmental decisions are made today, it´s not likely that they will be able to update everyone's self service :) So sit tight :)

How did you find out?
Someone wrote here that colleges usually confirm your membership only after you meet all your conditions.

Hi CharlieJames! May I ask you if you have already accepted your offer? It's just to understand if they allocate colleges upon acceptance. Thank you very much!

He probably didn't have any conditions attached (did you?)

Guys, does anyone know if (and how) it is possible to waive accommodation on campus if someone prefers to live elsewhere during the term of studies?

As an overseas student I have about 16,000 pounds for maintenance for me and my partner (I am married) and we prefer to rent a place in London and take the train every day for school.

Thanks!

You will not be able to get a language test waiver automatically if you are not from the listed countries. The solution is to email Graduate Admissions with your concern and ask for a waiver which in this case means, an assessment by the Language Center.

How does Cambridge announce its offers, does an applicant receive an email or is it posted to one's account?

They post it on your account. They also specify your conditions there.

Hi :)

Yeah, I accepted the offer. My conditions were financial undertaking, visa declaration, upload passport, upload updated academic transcript, and college membership. I did the first three straight way, but all my conditions (except college membership and 'accept offer') are still there - it says it takes a few days for conditions to disappear from CAMSIS.

Thanks Optimisticgirl! I remember seeing you in the forums last year! I'm intending to email Grads Admission as well. Wanted to know if that is doable. Seems like it is possible to get the waiver even though they have stated it as a condition now then... Wish me luck!
