I just got my package too. It was dated March 19. I am also from Canada. Any word on funding for you, and which college are you in (I still haven't heard)

Hi Equity's Darling: how long then really was the time period between your Camsis update with "Offer Set" and the real receipt of package? My update was 2 weeks ago, so I'm not sure at which moment to start worrying about package lost somewhere in the mail....

le, don't even begin to worry about worrying. It takes FOREVER.
I got the email from the faculty at the end of january; camsis was updated about 2 weeks or so I think after that; and I recieved the letter yesterday (it's dated march 19).

Equity's Darling: Congratulations on getting into St. John's! Although I suspect you must be aware of the infamous st. john's poem :p
Was St. John's one of your choices?

Caius college.
Someone asked about funding - most seem to still be working their way through, no word from Cambs trusts, but have heard re: Tapp.
In terms of timing, I was two full months from email to final package and there was a significant lag between my Camsis update and the mail delivery. Long story short: don't worry if it's taking a while, but I must admit that I did call the graduate studies office just to put my mind at ease.
Equity's darling, see you in October. Congrats.

It's not exactly a poem but more of a song;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_John's_College,_Cambridge#College_life
"John's... is the subject of a song: "I would rather be at Oxford than at John's", which is sung by students of neighbouring colleges to the tune of "She'll be coming round the mountains":
I'd rather be at Oxford than at John's
Ohh - I'd rather be at Oxford than at John's
I'd rather be at Oxford
Rather be at Oxford
I'd rather be at Oxford than at John's"
Weird world of Cambridge :p

ED - St John's is a great college. My friend was there last year and loved it. Right on the water too...

Tapp is actually run through Caius. Came across it online and from a few former LL.M. students. Also applied for the commonwealth and Viscount Bennett Fellowship.
What part of Canada are you from?

I'm on the west coast. you??
Also, re scholarships, how did you know to apply to the commenwealth one? I only applied to the automatic one, ir the trusts, and havent heard anything.
Are there separate forms for all these (unlike the trusts) and how do you find info on them, generally??

the Commonwealth is run through your undergraduate university so they should put you on to it. I guess most people find out from those who have gone before them or from their professors at their undergraduate school or from surfing the net.

Ya, I guess i should be looking harder. It's just tough when you've been out of school for little while (thus losing some of those conections) and working (thus having no time).
Have you ever heard of llm's getting the cambridge trusts scholarship? is it a long shot, or is there a reasonable chance??

I am not sure but I know someone who got a Chevening Scholarship who went to St Johns. I don't know who funds that. He said the reason he went to St Johns was because they gave him the most money. I think it is a wealthy college which is a good sign.

chevening is run through the british foreign office, i believe.
thanks for the insight, figgie. any word on funding for yiou? also, i forget, which college are you in? and have you yet decided between cam and ox?

Thanks, flygirl.
In terms of finding scholarships, I spoke to one of my old professors and searched some of the university law faculty websites. Also working (Toronto) and so limited time. Most of the deadlines were in the fall for commonwealth etc.
Haven't heard anything from Cambs trusts. All Camsis says is that my application materials have been received.

...left my response to this out of my last post. Yes, accepted at Cambridge/Cauis. Was considering Oxford, but have a bit of family history with Cambridge that tipped the balance.

I still haven't decided : (
I am supposed to decide this weekend but it is taking FOREVER for people to answer my questions (eg: what accommodation is available etc at either place).
I have funding through an external source now and my college would be Trinity. As I am doing my PhD I am not a good guide on this forum. I know the ORS awards have been announced but I am not sure if they are only for purely research students.
Canadian1 is being evasion - are you accepting the Tapp or not? In fact, have you been awarded the Tapp (your post is ambiguous).
