Cambridge Application 2021-2022

francineth...

Hello there! I'm an offer-holder from last year (and currently reapplying) and I totally understand the agony of waiting. My status only changed to 'Awaiting approval from GAO' on March 16th. This was then followed by the conditional offer letter a couple of hours afterwards. So, as you can see, it was pretty late compared to the rest of the batch.

My best advice is to just keep that positivity! If you are unsuccessful, remember that rejection is merely redirection and that you'll always end up where you are meant to end up. Everything will be alright! Spreading much love and positivity <3

Congrats! Thats brilliant! Do you mind telling if your status changed directly from 'under review' to 'PAO'? Or was it GAO and then... if so would you mind telling the approximate dates? Excited for you!

GAO and PAO are the same. It's supposed to be PAO now, it seems, but the distinction between Postgraduate and Graduate doesn't seem to be properly implemented at all stages yet.

I just received an e-mail which subject was "Update from Cambridge University Admissions Office", and I had a heart attack... well... it was just an update from the GAO/PAO (I'm still "under review").

Here a partial transcript of said e-mail.
"Status of your application

Once an application is approved by your department, it comes to us. This is when the status of your application changes on your portal to ‘Awaiting approval from PAO’ or ‘Awaiting approval from GAO’. All applications enter a queue and we need to process them manually. Under normal circumstances, we would do this in one or two weeks. Given how the pandemic has affected us, it’s taking longer to process applications. We are currently processing applications that we received on the 13 February.
We cannot expedite any offer, under any circumstances so please don’t e-mail us requesting this."

I believe the GAO and the PAO are the same thing. I've just received an e-mail whose subject is "Update from Cambridge University Admissions Office".

The e-mail states, inter alia, this:

"Status of your application

Just got the exact same e-mail!

I believe it was directed at offer holders:

"

We cannot expedite any offer, under any circumstances so please don’t e-mail us requesting this.

Funding status
You will hear about funding by Mid July. If you’ve not heard back by the middle of July, then you did not receive funding. You do not need to accept your offer to be considered for funding. You may wait to confirm your offer until the 31 July.
Your offer
Please read our offer conditions booklet to understand your conditions. You can find it here: link (cam.ac.uk)
We are receiving a very high number of e-mails form offer holders asking us to explain your offer conditions – it’s currently taking us two weeks to reply to e-mails. You might find an answer a lot faster if you read the booklet.

When I read that part of the e-mail... I was preparing myself to read somewhere below "your application has been unsuccessful". No cool Cambridge, no cool.
