Cambridge application 2018/2019

Just got an offer!

From GAO or the Faculty?

I received an e-mail from them but my status didn't change yet. However I am not sure If I'm going to accept the offer, as I got a scholarship to study at QMUL. Cambridge is just too expensive for me.

Just checked - unsuccessful. Best of luck to everyone else. Should note I didn’t get an email and just checked my status.

Thank you! Yes, I got an email from the department on Monday. My status changed to ‘Awaiting approval by GAO’ on Tuesday and then finally to ‘Conditional offer made’ today.

Hello! So does that mean you already have the formal offer? I got the email on Monday but my status still says "under review by the department".

I called Ms. Wade to ask. We should all have everything updated within the next 2 weeks. She assured me that the email is definitive--so there's no cause for concern if your status has not been updated yet. GAO's just taking a while because they process all of Cambridge's apps.

Thank you so much for asking! Really appreciate it.

Congratulations! Did you receive an email prior to the status change?[/quote]

This offers a much needed clarity.

Hi :) First, congrats everyone on your offers!

Checked my account, and the status is updated into "Awaiting approval by GAO", but I have not received any emails.

Got me wondering whether the status update might be a mistake? Is there anyone in a similar position?

I have not received any e-mail and my application is still "Under review by department". Do not know what it could mean so far.

Me too. I assume the later we applied, the later we get the response.

I sent mine on the 14th as well. Perhaps they're doing them in order of application dates?

Sorry to let you know that a classmate who applied later than me already got an offer.

Same. One theory a friend and I had was that they made the clearest decisions earlier in the week and, given the fact that since Monday most/all of the decisions have been rejections, they are now working through the list rejecting people until they are left with everyone else who will get an offer. Or its entirely random. Who knows?

Yes and no. Given the fact that we are the last ones to hear something, I don't know how cheered up we should be. Conversely, as you have said, most of all the decisions have been rejections since Monday and our status is still Under Review, it makes me feel that 1) they haven't reached our applications OR 2) they did but they still have to make a decision. Now, all we're doing is to create hypotheses. I don't know how Cambridge operates but today we should get an answer. All we have to do is hope and fingers crossed to everyone.

3) As a bonus: Don't forget that I think we're approx. 50 people who kept chatting about the apps and stuff. I'm confident that 1000 apps had been sent (in accordance to the stats on the website) and we don't know what the others have received. We're just a tiny part of the entire cohort!
