If I get an offer, can I request for an one-year deferral? In case that I cannot achieve the language condition. Any idea?

In my opinion I don't think failing to obtain the language test minimum does not fall under exceptional circumstances needed for a deferral...
I think deferrals are meant for students who are confronted with a parent dying, a severe illness, national security problems,...

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

In such extraordinary cases, is the condition attached to offer deferred as well, or is the satisfaction of the conditions until July 31 required by all means?

Good question, Dice/Sertac ;)

As they tend to speak about the 'deferral of offers', I would feel that you don't have to fulfill the requirements in the year of the deferral. You can fulfill them in the year you deferred to.
In English, one doesn't have to meet the requirements by 31 July 2009 but by 31 July 2010...

What are u worried about? language test, money, academic condition?...

Well, I worried about a little bit IELTS but I should be all right, I never defer such a big chance at very right timing for any condition. Should I do not satisfy it, i think I do not deserve the place. Therefore, i will do my best to meet what the bloody condition is:))

Believe me, IELTS is a piece of cake !

You don't really have to take IELT. IBT is relatively easier if you just want to satisfy the language requirement.

I am still waiting to hear back; any Swedish people got any news as of yet?

People at my uni have received offer, they are however non eu applicants, does anyone know if that makes a difference? I have heard that the volume of EU apps is far greater than non EU, hence they have to wait longer.

If you get rejected, will it take a month or so to update Camsis or will they let you know via e-mail of a negative outcome as well?

Best of luck to everyone!

You can also take the TOEFL instead of the IELTS. In general, I think it's easier to obtain higher grades, even if the spoken part is awful and you'll feel foolish talking to the void. If you are worried, my suggestion would be to take both of them and send the best result. And to wait until you obtain a result you are confortable with, you still have time to spare.

For the deferral question, my guess is that's a case-by-case decision. I don't think anybody has to die or anything, you just have to "argue your case" in a convincing way.

Do you expect decisions in Oxbridge before March 15? That's my deadline in another university and would not want to decide blindly.

ConnieSundh, could you tell me where the non-EU people who have received their offers are from?

A bunch of EU people are in already (Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland,..) but it can be true that there are more non-EU than EU offers so far..

many thanks for the comments; kosvo and norway as far as I know.

Does anyone know the system used by Cambridge regarding who receives and offer when? Does it really take a month for camsis to update if you have been rejected? You will not be notified via e-mail?

Cedric, belgians should hang together. As longs as our country exists and Kosovo is not one.
