2013-2014 Cambridge applicants?

So, I know we won't find out what college(s) accept us for a bit (according to the email). But what is everyone's thoughts on the colleges? I'm from the U.S., so the entire college part is totally new to me... I figured it was like Griyffindor and Slytherin haha... I don't know about everyone else, I just want to be in a classical building with a private bedroom, areas for sports, and internet, of course, is a MUST!

I am hoping I am allocated a 100% graduate college, I do not like the idea of living with first year undergrads, haha! An ensuite or private bathroom would be nice too.

For sure, I totally agree!

Guys, help please

I have a stupid question which is really bothering me as I haven't got any response from the university yet:

I am an overseas graduate and I did not know what to put in the "Grade" box of the application... In your opinion, is it outrageous that I put 'not known' ?.... :( Although I am now having second thoughts as I could have put the grade from our national system...............

Thanks in advance

Well upon applying I was very uncertain I would get in, and I found the whole picking a college thing to be rather confusing and time consuming. I was also worried that I would not get into the ones I picked, and that my application would have a better chance if I left it open. That probably was not the best course of action, but there we are! I think as long as I'm in at all that's good enough for me :).

Does anyone know if postgraduates are actually required to live in the colleges? While I would like to live on campus, if for some reason the accommodation available isn't amazing it might be nice to just rent an apartment in the city. I do have a feeling it's a requirement to live in a college though.

I will make a Facebook group for those of us who have been admitted, so we can be neurotic together waiting for all the formal offers to come through :) and perhaps make some friends before we actually arrive! I will post the link here in awhile for anyone who is interested.

Well, this may or may not be a fatal error. But, I'm assuming you sent your transcript? We could imagine that they must have access your grades then. Might be best to email and make sure.

I so hope that I'll receive my acceptance email very soon and be able to join this group - it would be truly tremendous! In the meantime, fingers, toes and eyes crossed!

I did, I am sure I uploaded it correctly. I have no doubt that they have access to my transcripts, I just hope they will not throw my application away because of my stupidity...

Which colleges have you applied for?

I think this year, Trinity Hall and Darwin College are quite popular among LLM-ers.

You need to live within Cambridge, but not necessarily the College itself (either on-site or off-site accommodation). Therefore, you can just rent an apartment at City Centre (but the cost is VERY high)

To be honest, not many colleges offer on-site accommodation for postgrad. because the undergrad. are guaranteed a place on-site.

We have yet to receive a formal offer (and the conditions attached thereto). The email we received (I am guessing it was the same for all of us, feel free to correct me) only confirmed that we will a formal offer, but further stated it might take some time. We'll let you know once we get the official letter!

It seems we all got the same letter, signed by Sarah Worthington, Director of the Cambridge LLM Programme, only sent from Suzanne Wade´s email.

As for me, I have to wait not only for the formal letter of acceptance, but also for various scholarship results, that´s in my case "conditio sine qua non". Anyone in the same situation?

Didn't get that detailed a mail from Suzanne Wade (I'm an MCL applicant), but did get a short note from her stating that we ought to receive a more detailed letter in the course of the week, being last week.

Anyways, my CAMSIS status has now changed to "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies"

Awkward.

Got Mrs. Wade's email of acceptance to the LL.M. program last Friday.

The online self service account, however, still shows my application to be "awaiting consideration by department".

Doesn't match, does it?

Anyone else in the same situation?

I got your back, bro. According to the email (the last paragraph is the one that actually matters):

"GAO manages postgraduate applications for the entire University and, given the volume of applications they are now dealing with, you may have to wait some weeks to hear from them (15 March is the last date noted on the website).

Do not get agitated about this wait. In addition, your offer will also appear in due course on your online self-service page."

Hi all! This thread is so comforting and super helpful. I got my email from Suzanne Wade last Friday with the conditional offer but my status remained 'awaiting consideration by department' for all of this week. However, I checked my self-service account just now and it's been updated to say 'conditional offer made'. Perhaps they are in the process of updating all our accounts now! My conditions are also listed out in the link below the status- the link is titled 'view offer conditions/comments'. However, if your self-service account hasn't been updated yet, no worries! It's natural to get a bit antsy but the intended wait is until 15 March so there's a ways to go yet. Hope this helps :)

PS: I joined facebook grp as well!

Well, thank you for having kept us posted. Although I will start freaking out if my status does not change soon! :)
