Hi everybody,
I took the TOEFL Examination three weeks ago. I got 99 (R26, L24, S22, W27). I am planning to apply 2011 LLM in Harvard, Yale and Stanford. I know that these Law Schools require a minimun score of 100.
Here is my question: I got the sixth position in my 180 students class in the best university of my country, I am working for the best Law Firm in my country, I have been listed by the most prestigious British Ranking Review as a leader in my practice area, I have written and translated a lot of law articles in Law Reviews and Newspapers, I am a professor in two universities, among others strong credentials. Do you think that my 99 score could strongly affect my application in any of these three Law Schools?. Do you know people who got 99 and, despite of this, they were admitted in any of these Law Schools?
I know that there is time to take the TOEFL examination again, but in case that 100 points o more cannot be reached, I am interested to know if there is any opportunity considering previous experiences.
Thank you,
Alejandro2707

I don't think that the 99 Points will hurt you. But: better safe than sorry. ;)

I am sure you will be put in a great disadvantage comparing to the other applicants. Even 100 is not enough to apply to Harvard. They are looking for higher scores. You may apply and then pass TOEFL and send the result to them, so that your application will be conditional until you send your score.

Alejandro,
You will be tested in english, so in order to be clear try to improve you english, since 99 is not a good score. On the other hand Harvard and other universities pay special attention to candidates from the academic world, which is your case.
True leadership does not come from magazines notes, its your power to influence other people, so you better be confident and convince them that you are a leader and that you can be a real contribution to them.
don´t take me wrong, but are you sure you need an LLM to be more confident about yourself?
good luck and relax you should do fine in your application process.

Thank you all for your comments. Definetively, I will take the TOEFL examination again. I only wanted to know if you have heard about people who have been admitted to these three Law Schools with under 100 TOEFL scores. Regards, Alejandro.
