TOEFL

Hello everyone! I took the TOEFL once and scored 99. For most universities the minimum score is 100. Although i know they will not be very rigid with this i wanted to know if it will affect my chances for admission to an LLM program! Should I take it again to get a better score? Or is it alright?

Hello ashra,

I really think a score of 99 will not affect your chances of being admitted, although it depends on the Universities you applied for (Columbia requires 105).

If you applied to Universities who require a score of 100, don't bother to take the test again and to spend another 250 dollars.

Where did you apply ?

Hi Ashra,

Berkeley is pretty good about waiving your TOEFL necessity immediately. Duke waives it too but if you submit TOEFL scores you apparently get some extra time on your papers.
Try and apply for a waiver wherever you can. Otherwise, just take the test again.

Your application is considered as a whole, if you think you can compensate your score (which is not bad at the first place) with other components such as your GPA and work experience, don't bother to take it again. You won't be admitted to any school because of 1 point difference between 100 and 99, if they like your application, you will be admitted even with a 99.

Good luck.
