Energy and Environmental Law - Stanford v NYU v Georgetown v QMUL v Berkeley

Hey guys, i am facing a dilemma. I'm going to pursue my LLM in Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law area and i would like to know the reputation of these programs:

- Stanford: LLM in Environmental Law & Policy
- NYU: LLM in Environmental and Energy Law
- Georgetown: LLM in Environmental and Energy Law
- QMUL: LLM in Energy and Natural Resources Law
- Berkeley: LLM in Energy and Environmental Law

Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Berkeley has a great reputation in these fields, especially in terms of environmental law. Georgetown as well. I'd narrow it down to those two if you want to study in the US; QMUL if not.

However, Stanford is Stanford and if you can get into that program it's nothing to scoff at.

NYU is a great school but it's better known for other fields of law before Environmental / Energy Law.

Both good choices in the field. It's a bit difficult though to compare schools in the UK to American schools. I'd say if you're trying to make a decision between all of these schools, look at each one's alumni network to see how well they're represented in the area(s) you want to work after the LLM.

Have you considered Osgoode law school-University of York in Canada? They are good at environmental law too. My professor got a scholarship from my country's government. I think they are good at it too as well as NYU.

According to U.S. News - Best Environmental Law Programs 2020, Berkeley is #1 , UCLA #4, Columbia and NYU #6 (tie), Georgetown, Stanford and Harvard #10 (tie).
