I'm looking at LLM programs in France and I was hoping somebody could give me a sense of what student life in the country is like. I do not think I am going to go to Paris but rather a law school in a smaller city, like Catholic University of Lyon, Université Toulouse or Université Catholique de Lille.

Is it possible to get by in these places with just a bit of French? I plan on studying more before the program starts.

I guess French helps a lot, unless you are enrolled in a full-time English taught LLM.

Anyway, I'm also interested in this post since I'm looking to apply for several Intellectual Property Masters in France, but I'd need an advice on which are good univeristies teaching these programmes.

Student life in Toulouse is just amazing! And there is so much stuff to do. I, for example, went to a free salsa classes for more than one year.
And sitting on the banks of Garonne with your friends became one of the most memorable experiences in my life.
