Another question guys...
Just started looking at booking plane tickets. I was planning on buying a one way ticket but I heard there could be a problem flying into Amsterdam on a one way ticket. Is that right?

That would depend on your passport. If you are using an EU passport, it shouldn't be a problem. If not, the airline may not accept you on a one way ticket. If you get a visa before you travel, you may not need a return ticket, again it depends on your passport as to whether you need a visa.

Seems like I am the only one who decided to look for accommodation on my own :)

Any luck with that?
PS. I'm on an Australian Passport, so I don't need a visa but I need a residency permit... not sure that I'll be able to use a one way ticket...

Ask Australian government to join EU :)

If you're caucasian maybe trace your family back to one of the EU nations and get citizenship? :) I've heard of a few Americans who have done this and gained Irish citizenship!

Some suggested New Zealand should try for EEC membership in the 1970s, but this idea didn't gain any traction here or in Europe.

Congratulations to the accepted pals. Have anybody of you applied to other schools then Leiden and why chose Leiden over other schools? I might very well join you in September once decided between two schools. If anybody can express your opinion in a thread I posted, I'll really appreciate it. Thanks and see you in September one way or another!

Got into Erasmus, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden. I've chosen Leiden because of recommendations from friends/lecturers in my BA university back home, comfy place between Amsterdam/The Hague, impressive list of scholars in university and etc. Last but not least, the programme is ok with me.

Thank you TTTV. It might help.
I got accepted to Erasmus end Leiden. So, it's less then a week to decide and I'm still puzzled. It's because I've heard confusing information that Erasmus business is very strong and it's an Ivy League school.
I wonder what kind of networking and future employment could be expected from each one.

Don't know much about LLM perspectives in business law. I've chosen public international, so it will be even harder to find myself a job after graduation.
On the other hand, at least studying will be interesting.

How about the UN? United Nations, I mean. It could be a great opportunity to find an internship while at school. Hague is the capital of international public law and it's very close to Leiden.
Posted May 30, 2007 15:09
Again, that is yet another reason why people choose Leiden for public international law.

At this point I have to agree. Yes, Leiden is good for Public International Law. But as for business law I'm not sure what to choose between Erasmus and Leiden.

Has anyone received news about housing by the way ?

Are you guys talking about the 'El-Cid' week? It looks useful, but I'm contracted to work during that week on something over here so might be tricky...
As for housing, nothing other than a confirmation that they have started processing my application.
When is everyone planning on arriving in Leiden?

No we were just talking about the two introduction days.
The el-cid and induction week might be fun but I won't attend either (and enjoy 2 more holiday weeks before a long year of hard work...).
I'll be in Leiden end of August.
