Just got accepted! I'm also planning on asking the University to arrange accomodation, is that a good idea?
Posted May 03, 2007 06:14
Congratulations! That's awesome. They should send you an acceptance letter soon both via email and regular post, that will contain a form for you to make a housing deposit, that you then complete and send back to them. In June they will allocate housing and we will know what's happening then.

Thanks, I just got the email confirmation and was about to send off the acceptance. The form asks me to tick the relevant price range for accomodation...not sure what to expect.

I just got my acceptance yesterday. I'm planning on using the university accommodation too. Not sure what you would get for each of the price brackets they offer.

Hi,
here: http://www.leiden.edu/studenthousing/index.php3?m=1&c=4
you can see what you would get for certain price ranges, depending on whether you would like a room (with shared kitchen and toilet) or an apartment.
I think I will try to find accommodation myself, as I have applied to several programmes and I will not have all the answers by June, I don't want to waste the 500 euros in case I decide not to go to Leiden after all.

Thanks. I only applied to Leiden. I have just emailed a copy of my acceptance of admission. I've also asked when we actually have to pay the tuiton fees by (as opposed to the housing deposit). Does anybody know?

Hi,
I have also been accepted to Leiden (LLM adv. in Public Int'l Law, Int'l Criminal Law specialisation) for next September. Anyone doing the same specialisation ?
(It seems the whole LLM community in the world is gathering on this board, so I guess it's worth a try !).
Do you know if you can actually choose your accomodation (some of the houses on the website look really good) once you've chosen a "price range" ?

I guess I should introduce myself too.
I'm 25, male and from Auckland, New Zealand. I'm going to be doing the LLM in Public International Law. I would have liked to do the LLM (adv), but as with many who are posting on here, I am relying on the home fee as a dual national (NZ/Netherlands) and the fee on the "adv" was a tad too much for me to justify.

Just a question with Leiden's LLM Adv programmes, do you have to have a masters level degree in law to be admitted?

Just wondering if a JD degree counts as such a masters level degree for admission to the LLM Adv. programmes or is it just other LLMs/MAs?
Repying to the post above, I've asked the university to sort me out with housing - just selected a price range and posted back the form... Fingers crossed! :)

Yes I think a JD would be ok, you just need to have studied some international public law before I guess. I don't hold an LLM or a MA already, but a swiss diploma equivalent to 4 years of study in international studies (which includes int'l public law)...
Same for the housing, waiting for a reply but they dont seem to be in a hurry. I'll also be in Leiden August 15th !
