It's nice to know you speak some french as I do,Star.Actually my searching range on LLM is quite wide,I prefer to study in the Netherlands,Germany or France, but language seems to be a big problem:(I guess that's why so many Chinese students choose to study in UK,US or Canada. So Star, have you applied for some schools now?Or do you have some offers from them?

Hi Star, you surely compete with the "Where are you from?" thread which is still a bit longer ;-)
Hi Russ,
Yes that our list might be a little shorter. Now that you have joined us, we will overtake it soon enough. How is life in London?

Ke ai de Julius,
Welcome back!! My applications are going well. I have already accepted Leiden's offer and will further process matters like housing and scholarship applications. I haven't started my trip yet. I am going on the Chinese New Year's day. Guess I will send you some pics about my trip later. Hehe... And you? What's up?

Hey Star, Nice to see your still around! Well, not so much from my side, spending my days in the library and trying to memorize those millions of Chinese characters now and then. My mandarin class starts on Thursday so we can soon switch to Mandarin .... not ;-)

By the way, I just dropped by the "Where are you from" board, its fun you should do it too...

zi cheng hen ke ai de Julius,
You sure you want to shift to Mandarin? Pinyin or Chinese characters? If pinyin, it would be like code breaking. Very challenging, but I love it!!!! hahaha
Another challenging thing I am doing now is learning about cooking. My father was a chef, but I know nothing about cooking. But I am enjoying doing it now, just think I can cook on my own when I am in the Netherlands..wonderful,

Hi Star! Sounds good, the supermarkets in NL are quite good you will find most things you need. I am not sure you will find the right ingredients for Chinese food, however, but they do have quite a few Chinese supermarkets as well. My Mandarin class was pretty hard, I think we will have to postpone the Chinese message posting ;-)
I amlloking forward to the Chinese new year by the way, the have a big parade and everything here in NY. When is it exactly, next weekend right?

Hallow everyone
I'm Joseph from Indonesia. I also want to pursue my LLM in the Netherlands. Previously I almost sure that I would like to enrol for LLM specializing in International Business Law at Leiden but last week there was Netherland Educational Fair and many netherland universities offer LLM program. Surprisingly, info from that fair, for this year Leiden merge that program into European law so I have to reconsider my option to go to Leiden. Does anyone know about this?
From that fair also I noticed that groningen is the cheapest and they said at the moment they are the no 1 law univ in the netherlands (as you can see in their website) and they have international business law and economic. what do you think about groningen?
thx
PS: this site is so useful. Aside from obtaining lots info you can also meet new friends from all over the world who have the same interest. Nice

Hi Star, Hi Joseph,
Joseph: Nice you joined in! I am afraid I cannot tell you much about Groningen though, no. 1 university in NL, I dont know, it always depends who sais that, I havent seen a ranking for the NL so far. But I am sure Star can tell you more about it as she will probably go to Leiden..
Star: At first I thought that you meant my Chinese character writing was "so bad that I cannot join you in China" ;-) but after I deciphered the characters (still takes me quite some time...) I got the real meaning, yes I would love to celebrate it in China! I hope I can go back before the end of the year. But NY is supposed to have the biggest Chinese community outside China so it should be quite authentic (I live right next to Chinatown)..

Hi Joseph,
nice to meet you! I have been informed of the programme merger. You can find relavent info on their website, which i think you might already have. Yes that this new programme will focus more on business law on the European level, however, they will still have the international level.
I think Groningen is very strong in public law, but Leiden is thought by Dutch ppl to be the best.

Julius, the big holiday begins tomorrow... but i am already tired... you know, visiting friends and relatives.... we dont usually have big parades in china, because this is supposed to be a time to spend with family and friends, enjoying a big dinner.
You are going to join the activities in the chinatown? I guess most ppl in chinatown are cantonese... they probably dont make jiao zi at the new year eve. Ppl in the north do this..

Yes, I can imagine, sounds like social stress.. I have seen alot of 饺子 here in Chinatown and eaten pretty good ones but you are right, most people here are Cantonese (how did you know?). Anyway, I will join the parade and everything for sure, but first I have to do my homework for the CHinese class, o god. Oh by the way, I saw there is a new master program in Beijing at 北京大学 listed on LLM GUIDE now, have you heard about that one?
