Any updates for emttlf? The final confirm would be within May. Just my guess.

Hello,
My Congratulations!!!
I have been accepted for the programme as well (the same track). However, I was put in waiting list for the Category A scholarship. I wish Well Lets say, I hope that I have a chance to get it. I guess, in my case it is better to find other funds.

Hi guys,

I have been selected for the EMTTLF Programme (2nd year in ILF) too with full scholarship. Great news! But the information and genuine feedback is sparse. So I think we should get it started right now! Like how do we end up finding a job or an internship? What is it like to be moving from one country to another before even settling down completely?! so on...
Let's not stop here guys. Looking forward to seen this thread revive again! ;)

Hi guys,
I have done the 2009 edition of the EMTTLF, Strasbourg track though. But several friends did the Frankfurt path.
Concerning internship - do not expect much help from the Universities. You will have to look by your own and is good to start thinking about this in the end of the first year of the master. Very few of us could get an internship in Europe (most went back to the original countries to work, rest, save money or do the thesis or just stayed in Europe having fun). The ones who got, worked for free or for just a small remuneration.
The thing of having to move from one place to another is of course a pain, you have to look for places to stay and apply for Visas, etc... but in the end everything works. And in my opinion the opportunity to live in 3 different countries this is one of the great attractions of the master (together with the scholarship) .
Good luck!

I got a confirmation on Monday: I'm on the waiting list, category B scholarship for EMTTLF, Frankfurt track. Any ideas how long the list is (and thus how big is the chance to make it to a scholarship)?
Also, can somebody explain a bit more about the loans & mobility grants from the Spanish government? Did other EU citizens manage to get this sort of financing?

Thanks a lot "where is my LLM?"! Your insight was great!
Can you please help me with the followings? 'cos I have hardly a clue what it is like to be in such Programme.
How did u get to manage your finance using the monthly money they gave you? (I guess it's 1000 eu per month) any chance to save?!

How possible do u think it is for me (third-world country) to be able to find a job there? either in academia or law firms and things like that. any particular advice or tip?

I'm spending the 2nd year in Frankfurt, but how do u appraise the quality of teaching and the course overall in three semesters? was it just fair or something more than that?

Sorry for making it so long. Thanks in advance.

Worry not. I know how you feel. That is why I am trying to help.
Well, the time I did the split of the scholarship was different. We received 10 installments of 1600 euros each year. Just that. I think now you receive a lump sum amount before hand and than a lower monthly installment, correct? In my case, 1600 euros per month was super fine to live in Europe, without a fancy life of course. In the end of the month we could save some money or spend in trips. You should take care in the beggining of the master, because in our case it took 2 months to receive the first scholarship. But after they paid everything on time.
Well, as far as I remember from my friends that were in the Frankfurt track, you have to do the internship as a condition to conclude the Master there. So in the end they got something, but was very stressful. The thing is that since you are an EMTTLF, Deusto is responsible to get the internship for you. But they don't help much or have just crap positions (like work in the Ministry of Justice of Bilbao). And you can't reach the big banks or law firms in Frankfurt by yourself, because most of them sponsor ILF and ILF do not allow you to reach them directly. In the end, ILF helped the EMTTLF students, but just after the non-EMTTLF had already their internships. Honestly, you can´t do much now. Once you get in Frankfurt you should put some pressure on ILF and Deusto to see how they will manage this.

About the quality, the Unies are very different and overall I liked the courses. For me the best classes were in Tilburg, where we learned a lot of commercial and financing law. Frankfurt is very good as well. It is like a copy of an american LLM and ILF is super well known. In Deusto we learned more European Law. Deusto was the only place where the classes were prepared just for the EMTTLF students and they brought teachers from several countries of Europe and even USA. In the other countries we were part of classes / masters already in place for other students as well.
Of course if you are seeking just quality, those are not the best Universities and you can't compare with a Ivy league. You have to balance what you want. In the EMTTLF you have good classes and will for sure have a lot of fun, save money, travel a lot around Europe and learn new languages.
Take care

Hi, guys.

I also got accepted for EMTTLF, but for EBL track (Strasbourg). My doubt is that I'm not european, and I ask myself if it worth making a specialization in european law if maybe I won't live there after it. What do you think about? Do you know other students who did the same track? With what are they working now?

Second question: have you already sent the documents by post? I was waiting their request, but until now they didn't it and I was guessing if I was supposed to do it just after the email about the acceptance, even if they don't mention it...

Thanks in advance.

Hi and congrats on your admission!

I made an enquiry and i was told i just need to wait longer. It seems that some paper work is being processed on an EU level, and until something comes out we're not to do anything. So don't worry. at a later stage, they'll contact you and you'll be asked to send the documents by post.
Regarding the post-study work in EU, i have the very same doubt in mind! it's just risky i guess to go through a two-year programme and simply come back afterwards! isn't it?!

I hope for the best any way. Good luck

Thank you for answering!

Yeah, the doubt is always about the future. I guess the problem it's not just come back after the program, but don't work in the area I'll specializate, I mean, in European Business... this's my fear, once I do not live in Europe... well, let's see.

How many students are going this year? Anyone to Strasbourg also? How many with scholarship? I read that they choose just one student per country, is it true?!

Thanks again and have a good day.

Ana.

Yeah that's pretty much true, only one from each country. Which means you're selected proudly! ;)
I donno the number of students going for Strasbourg track, nor do I know the Frankfurt one.
The good thing though is we still got time to do the best. I don't wanna make a waste of my lifetime either. Let's hope for the best for now

Dear Reader!

If you're one of the EMTTLF grantees, or you intend to join the programme, please do share your thoughts, ideas, information and doubts, if any. It'll take you a minute or so, but the impact would remain much longer, perhaps for one's lifetime. Thanks!

My main concern is whether to go for it this year, or take the risk of forsaking it and apply to Canada next year. The latter, of course, comes with the fear of not knowing how much scholarship you'll be able to get. Who knows what's gonna hit the world in 2013?! Cessation of Arab Spring and beginning of a European one?! Confused!

I am finishing my EMTTLF this semester, so perhaps I can give you some insight. The majority of students from 2010-2012 went to Strasbourg. We were 21 in total accepted (counting European and non European, lawyers and other backgrounds, etc) and just 6 got a spot in the Frankfurt track. ILF usually accepts around 5 students, but that might change any year. For my taste, Tilburg and ILF are the best unis involved in this programme. Good luck!
