I had an impression that I was talking to the wall. No reaction to what I was saying. I even thought that they don't really listen to my answers.:) And some questions were quite difficult. But don't worry, it was my impression and maybe the fact that I was stressed also had an impact on my performance. So good luck:))))

Hi everyone,
I have been following this thread for some time, so thank you for all your help so far!
I'm from the UK and I applied in January but still haven't heard back yet (not even about an interview). I even sent an email asking when we might find out and haven't had a response. I was just wondering if there is anybody else from the UK on here and whether they've heard anything? We don't have a selection committee so do you think that means we have to wait longer?
Anyway, good luck to everyone else!

I've also been following this thread for a while, and would like to reiterate the thanks from stamford.
I'm also from the UK, more specifically Scotland, and haven't heard anything either. So I wouldn't be worrying too much. I was.....until you posted your comment. I have also sent an email, and also not heard anything back. So again, I wouldn't worry too much.
You are probably right about the lack of a selection committee being the reason for the delay in any response. Let me know how you get on, keep posting.
good luck everybody.

Just to let you know wanmac, I received an email today saying that they haven't preselected the UK candidates yet, and interviews will be 3-4 May in London. I hope this helps!
Thank you for letting me know you hadn't heard before though... definitely helped!
Hope all of you who are going for interviews are finding them ok!

Hi stamford and wanmac,
I am an applicant from the UK too, and did not receive any acknowledgement email either, so thanks for the info stamford!
Have you guys applied for funding from other sources? Too bad the govt. decided to stop funding scholarships!

Ye it is shameful action on the govts part. Fortunately education is a devolved issue, and the Scottish government have decided to keep the scholarships for a couple of places, at least for this year. Otherwise, I would not have applied. So ye I've applied for that, Prav.

I have received today an email from the government confirming my admission with a full scholarship to the LLM program.
I am still waiting to see if I am aditted to the ELEA.
Good luck people!

Hi everyone,
I would like to share my experience: I had an interview with the French committee on Monday in Paris.
However I am afraid to say that the experience was quite disappointing to me... I didn't do as well as I would have liked to, for one, but also, the jury wasn't very friendly, which didn't help: they didn't introduce themselves (i spoke to 4 people without knowing whether they were professors or administrators, people from CoE or people from the French Ministry); they asked difficult and theoretical questions; and I was under the impression that they hadn't read my CV.
I have been working for the past 4 years and was not able to answer the questions very well because I finished my studies a long time ago (which is actually why I applied, in order to study these issues again). Instead they could have asked questions about my profesional experience/my motivations/the master thesis I want to write/etc. but not a word on that...
This is only my personal opinion and everyone may not agree, but I think the personality of a student matters a lot and it is more important to try to know his/her trajectory and motivations rather than knowing whether or not he can quote the latest communication published by the Commission...
Regarding the ratio French/English, it was half and half.
Voila. I still hope there is a chance I will be admitted. Fingers crossed! And the best of luck to everyone!!! I hope it goes well for you guys.

Well it seems every country has a different approach to the interview, for mine in Switzerland was quite different.
There were 6 interviewers (1 law prof., 1 pol. science prof., 2 government administrators, 1 CoE rep. and one person I can't remember). They each had a nice little panel in front of them stating their name and office.
Some of the questions were related to my CV (You are old, why another diploma?), others to the EU and its institutions (Is the EU economic or political?), legal (what is the object of competition law in the EU?), and finally national biased (what do you think of Switzerland's position towards the EU?).
If I may give an advice, the most important assets in such an interview is humility and self-confidence. You don't necessarily know the right answers, but you need to be able to say it and say why you don't and how that will not be a problem in the CoE. Also, having well thought out personal opinions is a plus.
Good luck!

Hello to everyone!
I've been following these posts for a couple of days, so as to check out how the selection process was taking place worldwide. I am from Argentina, and just like some other guys I read, I also applied through the Spanish Selection Committee.
My question is especially for my fellow Spanish speakers, but if anyone else knows, please let me know. Have they already contacted the preselected candidates for the interviews? Cause I read that they would be doing it the forst days of april but I still haven't got any news. I even wrote to the COE's Admission Office and got no answer whatsoever.
This is killing me! Please tell me if you have news.
Congrats to all who have already been selected!!

Hello hello!
Good news from Mexico, I´ve received today an invitation for a phone interview on tuesday 28.
I would be forever grateful if someone that has already made the interview let me know the type of topics they will ask about. e.g. Theories of european integration ... recent comunications.... to know what to expect.
I know that they are not friendly and it would be hard.
wishing you all the best
Inés

Hi!
I had an interview in Belgium last week, so I want to share my experience.
There were three interviewers, one professor and two assistants. They introduced themselves and they had nametags. They were very kind. The professor said that the interview should not be perceived as an oral exam, they merely want get to know you in a way that cannot be provided by the written application.
First question was on my motivation, in French. so I said why I wanted to do an LLM in European Law, and then why COE.
Some general questions on my thesis (on readmission agreements), and questions relating to the readmission agreement the EU wants to conclude with Tunesia.
They asked examples of what Lisbon has changed and what I think about Ashton.
Lastly, I had the opportunity to ask them questions.
All in all, a good experience, nothing to be worried about, even if you don't know the exact answers.
Does anyone know how they notify you of the decision? is it by post or email?
Thanks and good luck!
