Just wondering if anyone applied to Osgood Hall PD - York, Canadian Common Law 2018 - 2019 and want to share information.

Hi Richard,

I applied to the same program and my application was complete as of January 31st. My decision is still under review. Seems like it takes a while before they finalize their decision.
Where did/are you do your law degree?

I applied for the General LLM program on January 08, 2018. Any idea by when will they start giving offers. It has been a while!

There are literally no posts here talking about York. Is it not as good as McGill or UBC? I have heard that it has a great reputation for human rights in Canada.

Well, I know York university is still on strike at the moment, so I don't know if that is affecting the application process. Osgoode is one of the most prestigious law schools, and is top 3 in rankings, from my understanding.

@jsiri123 – Thank you for the update. I will keep you posted. I graduated in Italy (J.D.) and I am waiting for the results of the Italian Bar Exam. What is your academic/professional background if you don't mind me asking?

@uvrj – As jsiri123 mentioned York probably ranks 3rd amongst Canadian Law schools (after McGill and UofT to my understanding). Also, York is one of the few Law Schools offering a NCA approved LLM program (along with UofT, UBC, and Calgary)

No problem. And I'm in my final year currently finishing my undergraduate LLB in the UK. I am from Canada originally but went to the UK for law school. I know alot of people that went to Osgoode and I can tell you that they went on to work for reputable law firms. So, I can ensure you that Osgoode was a great choice, just hope they make a decision soon!

Does anyone know how much time an applicant would have to accept an offer of admission? I know that the GPLLM from UofT has a 1-month acceptance period policy.

@RichardBishop - Wow, Congratulations! I still haven't heard back from Osgoode, hopefully soon! But if you don't mind me asking you, what was your final average? Was it a upper-second class or lower second class?

No problem at all, my final was (probably) upper-second class. To give you context, hold an Italian J.D. (plus 1 year abroad) and 2.5 years post graduation of working experience in international law firms.

Ah! Good luck! Any idea how many candidates are absorbed into the course on average?

to be honest, I think Osgoode accepts most of its applications, because the entry requirements are quite flexible, and this program in particular, is advertised alot, unlike other LLM programs. I looked at a stat sheet from the previous year, and it was around 300 students.

I was accepted April 20th to the LLM CL commencing September 2018. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hey! Congratulations! I just got an offer from Osgoode as well for Canadian Common Law! I'm from India with about 7 years of experience in litigation. Although the website says "Admitted", I still haven't received the letter. I do have the option to accept or reject it. It says I need to make a decision before 30th May, 2018.
