KVC....ur attachment not being upload is not a worry....so dont worry too much abt it,however it might be better to clarify with NYU why for some of them its uploaded and for some its not.

Hi Everyone

Just thought I'd wish everyone on this forum and at NYU/ NUS a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

No admission/ scholarship decision as yet for me. :(

I wonder if anybody else has been given a decision as yet.

Guess we'll have to wait till January 2008, since the holidays must have started at NYU and NUS. :)

Cheers
Prashant

I just received a package from NYU! I got admitted!

Strangely I got no e-mail so far, but only the regular UPS package, so you guys shouldn't probably worry with it.

Another thing you were discussing: my TOEFL and transcripts were also scanned in the online system, but I don't know exactly if it is supposed to mean anything.

Good luck to you all!

cheers

Hi Priestlaw

Congratulations on your admission. This is good news. So when do you have to confirm your place at NYU@NUS? How much time have you been given to submit the deposit to confirm your place?

I haven't received any UPS package nor any email as yet, so you've got me worried now. :))

Any feedback on the scholarship for you? Did you apply for the Singapura Scholarship?

My Transcripts haven't been scanned on the online system. I hope that's not a cause for worry. I had an exemption from the TOEFL.

Hopefully I'll see you there. Will keep you updated.

Cheers and you better celebrate properly. :))))

hi Prashant,

I do not have the documents with me now, since I am not at home and my family received it for me. However, I know that I have to give an answer until Jan. 11, and with a $500 confirmation fee.
On the scholarship, I got 35k like the previous year's applicants, despite applying for the Singapura award.

I don't think you should panic, since we don't really know what's the deal with these scanned documents (as far as I know only me and another person in this list have claimed this "honor"). However, I would no longer give any attention to the electronic mailbox, since they seem to be only communicating by regular post for this first batch of acceptances.

Hope to see you all there,

Hi

I guess I'll just wait for the UPS package. :) Maybe it's been delayed because of holidays in Delhi.

I checked today but my documents haven't been scanned online. I've sent a email to NYU for clarifications on this aspect. Hopefully I'll get a reply soon.

All the best Priestlaw. You seem to be the first to have received confirmation of admission and a scholarship. Are you based out of New York itself?

Hafiz I've only applied for the NUS preference.

Cheers

Hey - congrats to all those who got in, and good luck to everyone else.

I have a situation - I got NYU@NUS offer with 35K Dean's Award. I am also getting Columbia (NY) but no finacial assistance. Total expense for Columbia will be about 65K, which I might be able to scrape together (tough call).
Now my question - NYU@NUS with 16K only additional expense, or spend 4 times that (64K) and go to US for Columbia - how does one view these options, related prospects, etc. Any comment would be welcome.

I would first like to congratulate you upon being offered a position at both NYU and Columbia. With regards to the financial situation I would impart the advise of accepting the Dean scholarship from NYU with $16,000 to be paid since $65,000 in loan is not desirable unless there is a job guarantee upon completion of the LLM. Moreover, if you have chosen to study in Singapore, this would give you the opportunity to pick up another language and this will be attractive to employers as they seek individuals who are flexible and adaptable.

Having saod that, if you are concerned with the ranking of NYU in comparison to Columbia it would be a matter purely for you to decide. However, if I were in your position, it would be best to accept NYU@NUS given the degree of experience which it provides and ofcourse the fact that you have been offered a partial scholarship.

Again, congratulations and well done.
