NUS LLM 2013-14

Hi all!

I'm intending to apply for LLM in maritime law for 2013 - 2014. Is there anyone who's been through it or have any thoughts to share regarding this course?

What about LLM International Business Law?

Thanks a lot! ;)

Hi everybody,
Do you know the application instructions for the dual degree?
Seems it's not the same than the NYU LLM. Do we have to register on the LSAC website?

Thanks

Hi emmy,

you have to register for LSAC, the application process is the same as for other NYU LL.M. programs. NYU@NUS appears as one of the possible concentrations when you fill out the application.

I've already sent my application through LSAC so you can send me a message if you have any trouble with your application :)

I have applied for LLM from NUS, I have mentioned three preferences (1st is corporate and financial services secondly Intellectual Property and lastly comparative law)

I have already submitted my application and paid my application fee and now I am waiting for the university's reply.

Here are the few Query.

1) Does recommendation play an important role in selection process, I have got recommendations from judge, asst proff, and senior official working in one of the leading company of the world. This is valid recommendation??? and will it suffice??
2) Does anyone know about what details are asked by NUS when they send auto generated to the people referred by the candidate as recommendation.
3) What is the intake for LLM at NUS
4) I have applied and completed my all the formalities in November, when can I hear from universitys side.
5) Lastly what are the chances of my admission at NUS

if any other info is required feel free to ask.

GUD LUCK

Hi everyone :)

I'm applying for the Corporate Services & Financial Law 2013-2014, and I have been preparing all the required documents and stuff, however I have stumbled across a technical issue regarding my online submission.

My recommending professors don't have e-mail addresses, and I intend to send the letters via mail along with my supporting documents. However, the online application system won't take a blank e-mail entry on the Referees' section and hence I can't put my professors' names. And upon submission, it said my application is still incomplete cos the Referees' section is still empty and it won't let me submit. Has anyone encountered this problem before, and how do I get through and submit my online application?

I've tried e-maililng the admission office, but all I got in reply was an out-of-office reply :( I know it's rather a technical issue, but I'm pulling my hair at the moment -- application deadline is approaching real soon! I hope I can find some help here. Thanks in advance guys :)

Hey winaindiarto,

I have the same problem. I'm trying to finish my application before the deadline, and i'm running into a bunch of technical snags.

I'm at the point where i'm tempted to write xxx@yyy.com and see if that works!

FogAndSteel,

The NUS admission office finally replied to my e-mail, and they actually just told me to put "abc@gmail.com" in the e-mail field, complete the registration and payment process and just send the documents! So yep, your trick should work just fine :D

Just to make sure, do I just download the acknowledgement letter as it is (blank as of now), fill it myself and send it to them or should I wait til they've checked and told me what I still have to complete? I'm a bit lost :-/

Quick question - In the questionnaire. where they ask us about relevant professional experience - is this where we dump our CV? Or just the bare-bones description they've asked for?

Hey

I submitted my application before the deadline but the checklist is still empty apart from my references. Any idea how long it takes to update the "application fee" and "all sections completed" tabs?

Also, once the application is submitted online, do we need to send them anything through mail? I'm quiet lost.

Erm ... anything through the mail? All the paperwork! And your transcripts.

My stuff reached yesterday, i doubt anything will be updated for a few weeks.

Hey FogAndSteel

Thanks for the reply. Isn't submitting all the documents online enough? Do we really need to send them the hard copies of the LoRs, CV, Transcripts as well?

Well, the application form is pretty clear:

http://law.nus.edu.sg/admissions/app_periods_forms.html

"All supporting documents submitted are not returnable. Unless we specifically request for enclosures/attachments to be submitted via e-mail, such documents will not be opened or saved if sent via email."

If you've sent everything by e-mail, i'd suggest contacting the admissions office directly, and asking them if thats ok. From what i've read, transcripts must be sent directly from your university, i doubt they'd waive that requirement.

happy new year everyone! let's hope 2013 brings us great new adventures :)

I'm just curious, does anyone have any estimate as to how much the books and/or reading materials will cost? or is it included in the tuition fee or something? been searching for information on it to no avail.

athyd, I might be in need of your experience here.. :)

I was wondering how difficult it is to get into the International Business Law LLM program at NUS. I am from the United States, have a Juris Doctor with a Certificate in International Law, clerked at DLA Piper in Moscow, Russia, and currently work at a firm in New Orleans. I wanted to know what my chances are. If anyone can provide feedback, I would appreciate it.
