hi AN....job prospects depends on many paramters.....ur internships so far....ur job profile if any.....u could also look at internships here in ur vacation time (which is for about 6 weeks in the middle between two sems)....and if you are able to do well in the internship you could look for the same internship post second sem education weeks and be absorbed in the same place....
trust this clarifies...

Hi LL...ur profile sounds good......am sure that you would have bright chances of getting through in LLM......but a word of advise.....mebbe one or two years of work experience is bound to shore up your understanding of the law uve read in university ....apply the same for the work exp.....pick up skill sets....cos carrying on wid the education in the same year you are finishing ur graduation may only end up in picking up more specialisation rather than further education in the real sense...but there are few ppl who are doing their post grad immediately after their grad.....

Dear LL one idea of pursuing a work exp is to get the understanding...if y dont like that stream then theres no point in looking for working in that field.....so it doesnt matter so much that u shudve exp if you are looking at entry level jobs after post grad.....u also have to remember...that you should be really really passionate about the stream u plan to do else u should opt for LLm general for the first sem and then switch over to specialisation in the second sem..

Hi,
I am working in a steel producing company and involved in the transport and shipping department for importing coaking coal and exporting finished steel products for the last 3 years..My works involves around drafting charter party agreements, arbitration of laytime, demurrage disputes and legal opinion on shipping matters. I intend to apply for the LLM in Maritime Law from NUS.
I would like to know about finding internships and probablity of getting job offers in Singapore itself with the kind of experience and an LLM degree in maritime Law..?

Hi athyd,

When will the application open for 2013/2014 intake?
And what is the beginning time for 13/14 NUS LLM class?

I got Ph.D degree from NUS in the major of Physics/Material Science & Engineering and now working at NUS as Research Associate. I plan to apply for the course: Master of Laws (Intellectual Property & Technology Law) at NUS. Do you think I have a change to get admission?

Furthermore, I also want to apply for scholarship or financial aid. Could you advice what scholarship I can apply for above program?

Thank you very much for your time.
Best regards

Hi, I am going to graduate in law from India in 2013 and am contemplating to apply for either IBL or LLM without specialization at NUS. For someone with zero work experience and a inclination towards business law, which of these would be a better choice?

What I wanna know is, would an LLM without specialization, in which the first year is reserved for general subjects, act as a disadvantage when seeking corporate jobs?

Dear Swa....u can go through the website and check out the options available in terms of subject choice for IBL....as regards LLM general is concerned, the choice of electives is huge and immense given that you would not be tied down in terrms of choice and u will have various options to choose from....

From employers point of view, how does it make a difference whether you have LLM general or wid specialisation...it depends on the skills you are picking up during your education and the way u exhibhit and express the same during your discussion with them....txss.

Hi all!
My name is Vigdis and I am an Icelandic lawyer. I graduated in early 2010 and have been working in an Icelandic bank since then (and in fact also along my studies and during the summers from the year 2007). In the past couple of years my main focus at work has been corporate restructuring but most aspects of commercial and business law as well as competition law are of interest to me.

I am very interested in the NYU@NUS program and intend to apply as soon as the applications open for the school year 2013-2014. I have been following this board for quite some time and have found the threads about the program very helpful :)

Any of you already decided on applying to NYU@NUS? Also, athyd, I'd love to hear about your experience with your studies so far, particularly how you like living in Singapore and how you like your classes :)

HI Vigidis,
Been a good month since I have been in Singapore.....the city is good lifes good....:-)
Classes are totally on the western based method of education....more of an interaction rather than teaching (since ive been from India this is new to me totally)....
Professors are by and large good....and I do share space with NY NUS students for some of my electives....
all the best to you and hoping to see you before i wrap up my course.....:-)

HI Sshui

The question of doing LLM with specialisation or without is really an open ended question....few issues...if you are taking a specialization straightaway...you are jacketed in terms of ur choice on the electives within that vertical to certain extent and the remaining could be taken as open electives....on the other hand if you are taking LLM general...sky is the limit for taking the electives choice....depending on the clash of schedule and other logistics issue....at NU you also have the choice of going in for a LLM general and depending on which electives you are taking can switch over to a specialization in the second sem....:-)
