I am a latin american attorney and am applying to Northwestern, NYU, Columbia, Georgetown, George Washington and BU. The following are my credentials:
1. My gpa is not that great its a 3.86 out of 5.00 (Which is approximately a 3.0 in the American grading system) and my rank is 27 out of 58.
2. I graduated from the best law school in my country.
3. I have worked as an international associate at a very large and important law firm in the United states for 4 months.
4. For the past 2 years I have worked at the largest and most important law firm in my country.
5. I also worked for 6 months at the legal department of Bayer Pharmaceuticals in the united states while in school.
5. I have an article awaiting publication.
6. And am completely bilingual and expect to receive a good score on the toefl.
Do any of you think I have any chance of being accepted to the law schools where i am applying?
Thank you so much in advance for all your advice!

Hello anyone??

perhaps not from NYU and/or Columbia, but I feel pretty sure you'll be admitted to at least 3 over the 5 universities you listed above...wish you the best of luck!

If your application materials are done well, I think you do have a good chance for NYU, and possibly for CLS also. HLS will be a question of luck (much more than CLS/NYU). Good luck!

I was informed today that I scored 116 on my toefl!!!! I scored 29 on reading and writing, 28 on speaking and 30 on listening. Does this improve my chances on getting in to these universities or does it just mean that I passed the first big filter?

Yes, it means just that.. you passed an important filter. The high score will not have any bearing on your selection or otherwise.
