Just got an admission offer! Application complete on jan 21!

Profile-wise, do you have any work experience or a second degree?

Haha, no absolutely not. I am still in school finishing my first degree in law (Year 4). I've followed additional courses and diplomas though, done an internship and a professional clinic program and been a tutor for foreign students for a while. I've also been a volunteer for UNICEF for years and Erasmus-ed in Dublin, IE (UCD) for a year last year. Apparently Virginia is known for its partying culture, maybe they thought I'd make a good fit, haha. No, jk, really, I have no clue how I got in, haha, sheer luck.

Hello, I am considering accepting UVA's offer. They have a tremendous international law and human rights program. I am told that there faculty will work closely with you throughout the year. Further, Charollettesville is one of the best college towns in the US. What are your thoughts?

Interesting. Shotokan, can I ask why you want to get an LLM after attending a very well-respected program for a JD (I assume)?

I do know of UVA occasionally taking students who already have JDs (such as with this guy, whose one indexed article is loads of fun http://assets.wne.edu/159/30_comm_Toward_a.pdf ) but if I understand correctly, JDs doing non GULC/NYU tax LLMs is pretty rare.

I'm leaning towards UVA. The law faculty is excellent and because the LL.M. program is small, they dedicate a significant amount of time to each student. Also, Charlottesville is one of the best college towns in America.

Has anyone received the financial aid decision? I have not received the final amount yet. Guess I have to enroll prior to knowing the exact figure.....

I paid the deposit. And regarding financial aid, they told me yesterday that the scholarship money is not available yet (so no decision has been delivered at this stage I suppose). did you all join the FB group ?

I did join the facebook group...but the members there (including myself) are not very active...
regarding the financial aid, do they mean the decisions will be made on a later stage or there is no financial assistance available to llm candidates this year?

Hey Guys,

I also plan to enroll UVA this year.

I heard only good things from other Brazilian who studied at U.Va.

Especially in relation to the attention dedicated to the LLMs, mainly because they receive a small number of students, about 50 each year.

Another important factor in my decision was that I received a partial scholarship.
