Hello everyone! I got the AD from UPenn and Duke. It's really a tough choice for me.
Considering the possibility of transfer to JD, I think UPenn may be better. Because Duke has been permitted any application for transfer for three years. However, somebody told me that in Duke I will have more life while there is nothing in Phillia. Can you give me any comments? Thanks tons!

One would have to say UPenn. I hear the quality of life is very good down in North Carolina (I'm going to Duke for the LL.M in 2008/09 myself) but when you're only talking about the sake of one year, it's probably not that big a deal.
They're both Top14 and have excellent reputations but I think UPenn has the edge.

Greencard, Thanks a lot! But who has some information about the availability of transfer to JD in those two law school? That also a very important factor I will put it in the first place.

Hi!! I'm in the same situation. I'm admitted to both Penn and Duke and can't make up my mind on which school to go to.
I'm an east asian lawyer concentrating on capital markets issues (my clients are institutional investors like hedgefunds) and planning to go back to my country after my LL.M.
As far as I know, both schools are strong on corporate law but Duke has Global Capital Market Center, which really interest me. As far as the ranking, Penn is probably better, but I'm still wondering.... Penn is little more well-known in my country because of the Wharton school. It's really hard to decide. I also love basketball and I'd love to go see the Duke vs UNC games.

Aooni: Let me ask a few questions. Have you already narrowed down to these 2 schools? Or are you waiting some other offers before making a final decision? By any chance, did they provide you any financial aids? Thanx and congratulations on your admissions!

Thanks Nathan.
I'm still waiting for decisions from Harvard, Columbia, NYU and Michigan. If I get accepted to Harvard and Columbia, I'll probably accepted them, but for others, I'll take either Penn or Duke. As to financial aids, I didn't ask for them so I have no info on them.
