Updates on HLS

figaro

Hi,

has anyone heard from HLS as to when the decisions will be made? From reading previous posts I learnt that HLS sent out emails on February 22 last year saying that decisions will be made on a specific date. Has anyone received such email this year?

Also, does HLS notify us via email (they did last year, but it seemed to have been an exception) or via mail?

Thx!

That's right. I received one a couple of weeks after I sent my application. A copy of the email below:

Thank you for submitting your LL.M. application to the Graduate Program at Harvard Law School.

Please read the following information carefully:

Your application is currently under review; if we should require anything further from you, we will notify you via the e-mail address that you have provided on your application.

If you have indicated in your application that materials related to your LL.M. application (recommendation letters, transcripts, TOEFL, application fees, etc.) have either been sent separately from what you have provided, or have yet to be sent to our offices, we will add those materials to your file as we receive them. Rest assured that all loose materials will be read and evaluated by the screener reading your application; however, it is in your best interest to make sure that those materials arrive here as soon as possible - ideally, by December 1.

For students currently enrolled in a degree program during the course of this academic year (2006-2007):

If you should receive fall and/or winter grades and/or a transcript for the degree that is to be completed during the course of this academic year (2006-2007), please send it to us as soon as it is available.

For students using the LL.M. Credential Assembly Service:

We will call up your record from the L.C.A.S. at our discretion. It is your responsibility to ensure that the L.C.A.S.'s evaluation of your transcripts and/or TOEFL is complete.

For any other questions not answered by this e-mail:

Please do not hesitate to contact us via return e-mail. Please anticipate delays during this busy time; we will answer your e-mail as soon as we are able, ideally within 3-7 business days, hopefully sooner.

Admissions decisions will be made in mid-March of 2007; you will be notified of decisions via the mailing address for all correspondence that you have provided on your application.

We thank you for your interest in the Graduate Program at Harvard Law School.

With thanks,
Graduate Program

Best of luck to all applicants. I can understand how stressful the next to weeks might be, but the best way (albeit unrealistic) is to just forget about it since it's out of your hands for now. Remember, it was even more drawn out last year because a key person was sick at the time!

Lennox:

Thats strange - did the e-mail u receive specifically say that results will be given out b/w March 15-30?

The e-mail I have says the following on this pt: "Admissions decisions will be made in mid-March of 2007; you will be notified of decisions via the mailing address for all correspondence that you have provided on your application. There are no early decisions. If your preferred e-mail address should change between now and mid-March of 2007, please reply to this e-mail with your preferred e-mail address."

No mention of March 30 anywhere

Hi all,

Just thought I'd assist with what I know in the form of what my friend had received last year (he entered HLS last year). He received his notification on 22 March 2005 I believe (via email). Anyhow, good luck all!

First of all, referring to an e-mail from over a year ago is rather futile, no?

Second of all, I spoke to someone in Admissions and the earliest we will get results is week ending March 23. That could be as soon as that Monday or as late as that Friday.

Finally, a friend who applied last year and was not admitted was able to get their results over the phone - they had to supply certain personal information, like date of birth, law school and year of degree. Talk about instant gratification... at least they didn't have to wait so long to find out if they were admitted.

So, no matter what, I'm betting we'll know by March 23, and hopefully earlier that week.

I can't complain too much about anything - the 2 times I've called their office, they answered my question straight away, and the 2 or 3 times I sent an e-mail to the llmquery e-mail, I got answered, literally, either right away or by the next day. That's more than I can say for the other 3 schools I applied to.

Did you happen to ask them how they would correspond with us this year? Will they initially send out e-mails?

Hi,

For Us with a stiff deadline from NYU, what do we do as we wait upon Harvard?

Can we apply for extension of time to accept the NYU offer, would it be allowed?
What reasons would one advance to support the application for extension? Any one who has done it in the past?

I guess if you have an annoying stiff deadline from NYU, you should contact Harvard and tell them as such. I'm sure you're not the only person facing the same deadline. It couldn't hurt to ask, right?
