it just means you let the $500 down the drain if you decide to accept another school's offer. It's just a way of securing a place. A bit expensive though.

When I was waiting for results, I asked for extensions and kept my money.

anyone who applied for early review and was admitted in the regular cycle?

Any news from CLS, please?
Posted Feb 20, 2007 09:15
Absolutely no news...nothing...nada...!! I think I'll just stop hopping to get in!

the last news I had from CLS was that my application was completed. It was about a month ago, I haven't received any news since then either.......

Hi I was rejected 4 days ago, though still I can't understand the
reason. Does anybody know, what is the average GPA Columbia accepts with?

They don't care much about GPA... a friend of mine was accepted with a 2.59 GPA...
Posted Feb 22, 2007 16:58
does it mean that CLS will reject applicants from now on?
Posted Feb 22, 2007 17:04
i think its too early for rejections. from reading the posts here, it seems like CLS does the admission on a rolling basis, so I doubt there's any trend going on.

Now come Ana - be more mature than that
the admissions process tends not to follow a domino effect all the time - you and for that matter I or any1 else will receive what is due to us

From reading previous entries, I know that the admissions are being received by email. Are the rejections being sent by email as well, or by regular post?

Realmcoy:
I would appreciate your abstinence from making any assesment about my person. It is not your business! I think all participants on this board deserve respect. If I asked a question is because I am not familiar with the system and I just wanted to know about it.
It is a pitty that someone with such manners is a candidate to an LLM program.

Well: If ur intention was to hurt me - i take no offence - just flew past my ears
To get on with the business of giving an issue-wise reply to yr post:
1. I made no assessment of your person
2. I never meant to be disrespectful
3. There is no "system" here - the admissions process is opaque and applicants can never know of any trend in decisions
4. Ultimately you always get what is due to you in life: nothing more, nothing less
5. One's manners having NOTHING to do with admission to an LLM Program - its a different matter you want to show pity to those without manners out of the goodness of your heart
6. I hv received a good upbrining and possess manners sufficient to accord respect to people
7. I am waiting to hear from CLS too - but I know I will get what is due to me - may be a rejection or may be I will be accepted
All I was saying was there is no single point in time during the early phases of the decisions cycle beyond which you are bound to receive a rejection. I wish you well and I hope you make it to CLS!
