Who's enrolling in this program??
Do you think it is good for a young woman living in New Orleans alone for a year? is it safe?
I have been admitted to Fordham too (US and Comparative Law). Life in New York is the best (I lived there for a little while), on the other hand the LLM in Admiralty is so interesting and I guess it would give me more prospectives (given the job market too).
Any suggestions?
Please help me, it's a tough decision...

I'm currently enrolling to the program and it is the best program in world regarding admiralty law. It's also the only one in the United States, New Orleans from what I've heard is a really color full and nice.
It's relatively dangerous because New Orleans has a lot of social issues and problems. But the campus is safe and if you're not wondering around at 2AM there is not reason for you to be mugged. And hey, you got a 25k scholarship, I wasn't even offered that. I had to almost beg for an award, all I got was 10k.
If you really like Admiralty Law you should not waist this opportunity, but if you like other areas of the law then perhaps you should consider something else. But, from the way you write, I can feel you really like it. You're just afraid you wont get a nice job and it will be a waste of time.
No one said it would be easy, but I'm sure it will be worth it if you put the effort it requires. So, just choose whatever makes you feel happier intellectually and emotionally.

Thank you TimRosa! You know, getting a bit worried is normal when you are going to change city, state, continent, language...and I was looking foe some info about what I am going to do...
So it seems we will be "schoolmates" next year...may I ask you where are you from?

Hi, In response to the question about living alone as a woman in New Orleans, I would like to add a few comments to what has already been posted. I, a young woman, live alone in New Orleans. I live uptown, the neighborhood in which Tulane is located. Within Uptown, there are both wise and unwise areas in which to live. A good idea is to drive around and look for areas that suit your preferences. It really depends on your location. I agree that following common sense, i.e. not walking around alone late at night in an area that makes you uncomfortable, is obviously a good idea in any city. Tulane has its own NOLA police station on campus, meaning that the patrolmen who patrol areas around campus are actual policemen and do a good job of keeping the area safe. In addition, there are a few shuttle bus options to and from certain parts of town, and at any time you can call a number which will send over a police or security guard escort to walk with you or take you where you need to go. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Am a merchant Naval Officer by profession and looking forward to enter the field of maritime law. presently doin my studies in UK, where as per the information so far, I could get admission straightly into LLM in Maritime Law even without a LLB on the basis of my present qualifications and experience. To practice, I further need to do Graduate Diploma In Law & Litigation Practice Course, each one year course; and then a training contract for 2 years.
Are you aware if Tulane is also taking candidates who are not from Law background? And could you advice the route to be taken to practice law in US after doin my LLM in Maritime Law without having a bachelors degree before that.
Thanks..
