I did not hear anything ... (LS&T)

Thanks for your answer MAP2009.

Is there anyone else that can chip in some info as to whether they are aware of a case where an applicant received the call and yet subsequently was rejected?

Why is nobody replying, is anyone out there admitted to stanford's LS &T program and if so were you interviewed? Just no news from them at all.

I spoke to a "reliable source" at SLS and they confirmed that decisions for the LST will be out on Monday and Tuesday. Regarding the interview, the same source told me that not all applicants are interviewed and the most important reason for the interview is for the admission committee to gauge your english speaking fluency.

So if you have a degree from a university where english is the "primary" language of instruction, you will probably not get a phone interview. Anyway, phone interview or not, we should know the results by Monday and I can finally stop staring at my email and get some sleep..

Just opened my mailbox, found the following email from the admission office:
"Dear x,

The Stanford LL.M. Program in Law, Science & Technology is limited to 10-15 candidates per class, yet each year we receive applications from a far greater number of well-qualified applicants. At this time, we have stopped admitting applicants and will be sending out denial letters to those applicants whom we will not be accepting.

Although we are not able to accept you at the present time, the Admissions Committee considers you a highly qualified candidate. As a result, your name has been placed on a "wait list" from which additional admissions will be made if several admitted students decline admission. We understand your need for certainty so that you can make plans for the upcoming year and regret that we cannot specify the likelihood of a position becoming available or the date by which that might occur. However, past experience indicates that very few, if any, spaces will open up in our 2009-10 LL.M. class.

We ask that you respond to our Executive Director, Lucy LaPier (lelapier@law.stanford.edu or 1-650-726-2267), indicating whether or not you would like to remain on the wait list despite the uncertainty. We ask that you inform us of your decision to remain on or be removed from the waitlist no later than April 6, 2009.

In the event that a place becomes open for someone from the wait list, the admissions offer would be made by telephone or e-mail. Therefore, if you choose to stay on the wait list, please make sure that Ms. LaPier has the current telephone number where you can be reached during the day and during the evening. If you will be unreachable for an extended period of time, please give us the name and telephone number of an individual who can answer on your behalf. Waitlisted candidates will be informed promptly of any change in status.

Sincerely,
XXX"

It seems that the admissions have been sent out already!

Dear Benjamin_button and Nail

Thanks for the response. I think it is not over till it's actually over. We should all know by April 1st, which is only a few days away. Hope is what keeps one going forward in life!!

Nail, don't pin your hopes on SLS, just accept any other Univ you have got into.

Although I know the rejection email is impending, I am still repeatedly checking my mailbox with a faint hope. Probably that's because I was interviewed. I can only see a reminder mail from another law school that gave me an admission.

Hello geworfen

It aint over yet. I have been in touch with a contact at SLS. Decisions are made on an application by application basis and are communicated by email in the same manner. So just because you have not received an email yet does not mean its all over. I have been told that most of the decisions will be sent out before 5:30 pm pdt (an hour from now).

I am in the same position as you..

Good luck

Hi,

I got an admit letter for the LST class.

The others who are choosing to do the LST LLM, how are you managing your finances? loans? scholarships?

Congrats Neha!

What is your background, do you have IP law experience before? What do you think in your opinion stood out in your resume which put you over the top?

Although I believe, for those who have not yet received any response, including me, the overall situation is never favorable (reflecting the previous statement that most "admissions" decisions will be announced by April 1!), I have not yet thrown myself into despair. This is partly thanks to Mr./Ms. benjamin_button's optimism... Let's not give way to despair though things go against us!

@geworfen
I guess that is indeed true. Almost all results are out.
Anyways I think they should hurry up and send in the regret letters. At the very least I can take up other positions which are open to me ...

In the meantime, I have turned into a realist, rather than a pessimist; I just hope SLS will give me a rejection letter at the earliest convenience, for me to abandon a vain hope and to enroll in another law school... Anyway, I guess it would not take more than a couple of days for them to issue every result.
