Hello Ayothelaw,
Your post is short but very interesting. Public International Law focusing on the interaction of law with HIV...an interesting angle. (I am Nigerian2, u c but rather more commercially oriented.) If you plan to study in the US, you'll probably do just great. You'd be looking at universities that are big on international law or medical juris. Are you checking out Ivy League or anything promising'll be ok? Don't forget to start your applications early (like now, actually) if you're thinkin Ivy. You might just face some serious bureacracy trying to get your law school results out of the law school on time. It's a bit pricey but rather efficient. If your university already has your transcripts released, you're on your way. Hit me up if you have any questions and I'll be glad to help. My e-mail's archangels2000@yahoo.com

Spinning off what Hyugo said..... getting your law school transcripts is usually where the hassles begins. You'd be suprised how easy it is for 'files' to go missing! So the sooner you start the process the better.
At this point you have to start talking to your professors about getting letters of recommendations. What law schools are you considering? Do you have a support system in that State? How far have you gone with your personal statement, and what are your plans when you're done with the LL.M program ? What about plans for the Bar exam.................?
My email address is babylawyer@gmail.com. Feel free to drop me a line and we'd take it from there. On a personal note I went to U.I. and just finished my LL.M program. I'd be taking the bar in 2006. Best of luck!

humm...........ayo i guess i aint got much to say. hyugo and bardiya have said it all. however i d like to emhasize the importance of choosing the right university and the right course. i believe this is exremely important when u realise how scarce getting a job is after the llm programme and the tuition being charged by the universities. this is a serious decision u re making. i m saying this cos i ve been there. i applied to nyu international law programme last year and was admitted. however i have to differ the admission to do some serious thinking about the job prospect and to measure it against the tuition. call me timorous soul if u like but one cant be too careful. hey bardiya i am also an almnus of university of ibadan. so when did u finish from ui. i waz there from 1995 to 2001. i hope u dont mind if i mail you. hmnnn

Wow yves I can't wait to hear from you. We were in the same set in UI.....remember the tally system? Gosh I miss UI so badly......
Hey and just for the record, I'm not one of those who'd refer to you as a timorous soul!!. Had I been advised 'properly' prior to starting the LL.M program I never would have done it. I mean what's the value of an LL.M if one isn't called to the bar in the U.S? Agreed, a U.S degree helps put one foot in the door, but without the bar exam, it's practically useless. (just my personal thot).
You did the right thing by deferring your admission, heck if you can defer it for life, all the better. At this point, i would suggest save yourself thousands of dollars by just sitting for the bar exam(thats if you haven't already done that). The cost of Barbri bar review for 6 weeks cannot be compared to what an LL.M diploma (written in latin) costs... by the way did you take latin for lawyers with high priest ?
Email me asap. We have a lot of catching up to do!!

I got an email response and would like to clarify..... I'm talking about the LL.M program for FTA's which runs for about 9 months and not the specialized LL.M like those in taxation, petroleum etc.
