I applied online on Nov 28 and was accepted into the UPenn LLM program on Dec 20. I was also accepted at CLS and GULC but am planning on going to Penn Law. Might change my mind only if I receive an offer from YLS.

Hey Levin -- many congratulations on the great run you've had -- offers from 3 law schools already; thats great
Just curious about 1 thing: Why would you choose Penn Law over CLS? (assuming your area of study would be corporate laws broadly)
Thanx :)

Hi
Thanks. My area of study is not corporate law. In my area of study I place Penn Law and CLS on the same high level. So basically it comes down to the fact that I don't like NY very much and that I prefer to get to know a new place like Philadelphia.

Are you notice that in website appear a link to Penn Law Admitted Students? I am still waiting for a decission. Maybe the next week...

Is there a list of admitted students on their website? I didn't find any. Can you please send me a link? Thank you very much.
Posted Feb 02, 2007 06:45
It's the main page of UPENN. This is the link: www.law.upenn.edu
In left column appear Penn Law Addmited Students. When you do click appear a new page with the option "JD program" or "Graduate program"
But this is not a list of admitted students only an intranet for them

hi.. i have been told that i will hear an early response from the school only by feb 8th.. also on the website how are you accessing the admitted students page?
Posted Feb 02, 2007 12:58
Hey nbhat,
If you've been admitted by Penn, they send you a username+password, and then you can access the website. The page is actually for admitted students, the ones who have already received an admission decision. You're supposed to find loads of information on there.
Ive done it a few days ago, and there was this little video about Philadelphia that you can find on the website too. I guess there is more now, I'll check and let you know.
All the best

I have just received the ACCEPTANCE e-mail from Penn Law earlier today!!!
For all you guys' information, I applied Penn Law on-line on Nov. 26 and sent out all the required materials thru DHL the following day.
I didn't take TOEFL this time and received a waiver as I got an M.S. in the US before.
Good luck to everyone and look forward to the opportunity to meet Levin and Lucinda in Penn!

Congrats to all of you who have been admitted at Penn Law !
Penn Law is a great school, with lots of exciting opportunities and a lively and vibrant campus, and I am sure you will love it as much as I am loving it.
BTW, I chose Penn over other top law schools including CLS because of Penn's interdisciplinary strenghts. You can take courses at world-renowned schools such as Wharton or Annenberg, and trust me, having interdisciplinary studies in your resume catches the eye.

Dear yueping,
Thanks a lot for the information.
It seems like you are currently studying in Penn Law...
If so, may I ask you whether Penn Law will require the newly enrolled international LL.M. students to take any English placement test?

Yes, I am currently at Penn Law.
I guess it all depends on your TOEFL scores. I was not required to do any such test, and I am not aware of anyone being required to take such tests (then again, I did not ask either).
They do offer English courses during the summer to brush up English skills - although the English summer courses are recommended by the university, you are not required to take those courses, and this will not affect you in any way (about half of the current LLM, including myself, did not take those English courses, and we are all doing fine). So it all boils down to how comfortable you feel in English.

Thank you so much for your valuable comments.
As to my situation, I am even more than willing to take some English courses if possible, since brushing up my English skills serves at least part of my purposes to pursue an advanced legal study in the US.
Thanks again and have a good one there in Philadelphia.

Guys do you think there is still a chance for a person to be admitted under early review for UPENN given that their deadline for decisions is tomorrow?
Posted Feb 07, 2007 17:12
trust me, having interdisciplinary studies in your resume catches the eye.
Accesss to Wharton was something that did catch my interest with respect to Penn Law. However, could you elaborate on how interdisciplinary studies on your resume catches the eye?
Our career advisor said there was nothing particularly interesting about cross-registration into, for example, the business school, so I was interested to get the opposite viewpoint.
