NYU or Chicago?

Anna_LLM

Hello everyone.

Am a Ukrainian admitted to the LLM Program at the University of Chicago Law School and at the NYU Law School (LLM in Corporation Law) for 2010-2011 Program.

Both universities offer scholarships to me.

However, those scholarships do not cover all students budget indeed, although the one offered by Chicago is bigger.

Financial issue plays important role for me.

At the same time, I would like to choose the university with the best law school, best law practice, best opportunities and international experince. Please, does anyone have any suggestions as to what to choose???

 Sincerely,

Anna

Both of them are great. Given the financial issue matters, why not taking the one with more funds though none of the two will cover the whole budget. As for the opportunites and international experience, I would say NYC will way beat Chicago and NYU has been branded with a sophisticated tradition in having exposure in private practice, especially for international lawyers, while Chicago is more academic oriented.

Thank you, Jonathan. All that I know. Thanks for noting one would choose NYU for legal practice. It is important for me. But Chicago has a lot of clinics for law practice too, doesn't it?

Yes, it is. But you really need to consider to what extent the LLM can be involved in this benefits as LLM is only a one-year programme, ten months to be specifically. I would pick the one with more tangible added value. NYU won't get you wrong in this context.

Hello Anya!:) Also, take into account the fact that in NYU you will study separately from JD students, and the LLM class is around 400 students.

Thanks dear!
I ve had it today!!! Was veeery emotional. The 2 weeks of waiting! But now nothing depends on me finally. so we will see. Chicago proposed a better scholarship and perhaps this is a sign that I d feel myself better there, cause it's more livable. so, I told them that both programs are great, though NY is NY:) but since money issues do matter for me, I d choose Chicago.... I ll tell you the result, friend. Thanks.
