Michelle: Thanks for the update. I am sure cost of living is significantly cheaper at NYU@NUS. Are you a fresher? Also, is it true that NYU@NUS doesnt entitle you to sit for the NY Bar? May the "Goodluck" continue with whichever programme you choose.

UT: thanks a lot for your message. I was about to e-mail the Graduate Admission Office and inquire about my application. I had already started doubting because I didn't even receive any e-mails confirming that my online application was submitted like it was the case with other schools (e.g. Georgetown). I hope it's just a matter of time and they'll get back to me in due course.
Thanks again,
ECA

"Thank you for submitting your 75.00 application fee. The Committee will begin reviewing your application as soon as all required documents are received."
The above message is the only message I got, which was sent after I paid online. I did not get any confirmation indicating receipt of my supporting materials. I tried to email them, but so far I only get an auto-reply with FAQs.
I think the confirmation of receipt of supporting documents is not computer-generated. Someone has to see the documents and to make sure what's still missing. Now I am really worried...

ECA, It's weird then. The message is supposed to be automatically sent, right.

kerrie: yes, i would say so... I'll send them an e-mail with my payment tracking number and inquire about the matter. I just hope i manage to find the number somewhere in the piles i have now after the whole application process.
but thank you... now i can at least tell that there's something wrong here... :)
have a good day!

has anyone here gotten a notification about the singapura scholarship? or have they received notifications about grants only?
the reason i ask is that the cost of tuition and living expenses will far out-strip the $35,000 offered - if you are like me and money is an issue, you probably applied for the singapura scholarship in hopes of getting the whole thing (including tuition and reasonable living expenses paid for). does any know the status of the singapura scholarship - if they are still giving those out?
thanks and congrats to all those who got in.
as well, if anyone finds out of a change in the NY bar (re students not being able to take the bar exam), please post.

First, i submitted my application way after the Dec 1 deadline - 15 Dec to be precise. i remember calling the NYU Board of Graduates on Dec 16 and was verbally informed that my application is out of time, and hence will not be considered. i thought that was the end of the matter and i witheld the payment of the registration fee. I am suprised my application is even processed without me having to pay for the registration fee.
Second, if i remember correctly, i did not applied for scholarships in my application form because i was resigned to not getting any and i didn't want to write another personal statement. but, guess what, like BCC, i am offered US$35,000 grant.
Can anyone enlighten me on:
1) the lightning speed of the process of my application;
2) the genuineness of the offer; and
3) does the term 'grant' denotes scholarship or it's just another form of loan? In my country, grant is sometimes understood as government loan.
I am pleased to offer some quick responses to your three questions.
First, the speed of turnaround is a function of the need to start this programme some months before the regular NYU courses - we begin in May rather than August, and so have prioritized Singapore applications for processing. Your application would normally have been ruled out of time, but we are being a little flexible in this first year of the programme and so you have just squeezed in.
Second, this is an entirely genuine offer. As we have indicated in press released and on our website, we are able to offer up to fifty full tuition scholarships in each of the first four years of the programme. The grant we have offered you is not one of the named scholarships, but nonetheless is a recognition that your application is strong enough to merit this award.
Finally, I apologize if these has been any confusion about the term "grant". This is not a loan but a form of financial assistance that we are able to offer to some students - it is a scholarship in all but name.

I have applied for NYU's LLM program in American Law. I am an International student (Athens-Greece). Could anyone inform when the decesion for NYU@NYU is made and posted to the applicants?

Dear guys,
I also received similar e-mail as BCC but i'm rather perplexed by the lightning speed of the process of my application.

on a separate note, i hold a first in my law degree.
Congratulations first! I am sure it is genuine offer from NYU since most others receive the same package.
However, I am a bit disappointed by the "efficiency" of the admission process. To begin with, the webpage of NYU said rolling decisions would be made and first offer of scholarships were to be issued by the end of September. I guess most of the applicants sent out application materials quite early. But it seemed that all decisions were notified at the same time. And then, comparing to the same offer made out above, it seemed that my efforts in preparing the application materials, especially essays for scholarship application, were quite useless or unjustified.
Anyway, maybe it was only an extraordinary case and I understand that the admission officers are working really hard to cope with the early entrance in May. I wish it will be a success.

Does this mean that those who have submitted before the deadline but have not received notice of admission should expect to be rejected? I have read that decisions on late applications will be made if there are still available slots. Since someone who applied late already got an offer, that would mean that decisions have been made for all those who submitted before the deadline, right?

I submitted my app first week of Sept and hoped to get a decision quickly. I fully understand that my app is not that strong, however, I would like to have a decision either way.
Is everybody receiving their decisions via email or are some getting a response by regular mail????

Hmmm....I'm wondering how many applications they received for this program. Didn't they say they wanted 75-100 students. Up to 50 will get scholarships and the 35k grant we're hearing about doesn't count as a scholarship????
Maybe those of us that haven't heard have all received scholarships and they're drawing up the paperwork......

I hope Prof. Chesterman can shed some light on the issue above...
Side note: I hope that those who have been offered slots but do not wish to attend NYU@NUS would immediately inform the admissions committee that they're rejecting the offer. I know that there are many accepted applicants out there who need the NY Bar eligibility and will not go to NYU@NUS because of that. Many of those who have not received notices on this board don't really care about that issue and are definite about attending NYU@NUS once an offer is made to them.

for those who received the offers of admission with the $35,000 grant: did nyu request your response by a deadline and if so, what deadline?
i'm hearing conflicting information regarding the singapura scholarship - has anyone here been accepted and been given that scholarship?
and has anyone here been accepted without having been given a grant?
lastly, has anyone received a rejection notice - and if so, was it by email or normal mail?
thanks.

Hello, All.
I am disappointed thus far with the admissions process. I submitted my completed application in early October and received a confirmation one week later. However, I have yet to receive a decision. I am frustrated because it appears that applicants who submitted after the deadline have been informed of acceptance and received grants! It seems that admissions are not actually rolling.
Does anyone know if applicants from the USA are informed after international applicants? Anyone have any insight into this?

Dera mmd. Are you going to attend the NYU@NUS program? For me, NY is the first choice. However, I maynot be able to afford the costs of studying in the States. May I know your reason to choose Singapore for LLM?

to add to the above, has anyone been rejected?
