NYU LLM 2018-2019 Applicants

Hey all! I've been admitted to the ILS program as of yesterday.

I have a bit of a silly question: how strict are they with the April 16th deadline? Can it be extended? I ask this because we don't really have a lot of time to apply for external funding at this point

I would say you should try writing to them asking for an extension and clearly explaining the reasons why you want an extension. But I would advise doing this only if you're very clear you want to join NYU. The worst that could happen is that the request is denied - you already have the offer of admission.

Here’s info about the scholarships

Students who will be offered a scholarship will be contacted by email through early April as these dicisions are made by the Committee on Graduate Admissions. Here at NYU, we collect all materials that are necessary for scholarship consideration at point of applications; there is no separate process to complete at this stage. We plan to notify students who receive an award in advance of the enrollment deadline, though there is no specified date by when individuals might be notified in advance of the deadline. If you have received scholarship offers from other institutions and would like to inform the committee, please feel free to do so by emailing law.grad@nyu.edu

Hi everyone ! I have received other Scholarships. Should I inform that to NYU? How does it influence NYU decision?

I sent an email to law.grad@nyu.edu asking when will we hear about financial aid and explained that I have to give an answer to other schools that offered me a scholarship before NYU's deadline.
They emailed me back stating that "decisions will not be released until later in the spring for all scholarships, including the Hauser. In the meantime, we encourage all admitted students to look into the variety of financing options for the LLM year, along with other factors that are important to you in making an enrollment decision".
So I wouldn't waste my time. Let us know if you decide to do it and hear something different. :)

Too bad, that sounds like it's gonna take a little longer. I was hoping we'd hear something this week because of last year's timing.

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me any info about the applicant online status check. Under the status section, there is no information other than the term and degree I applied for which is the traditional full-time LLM for foreign educated lawyers. Additionally, many of you who have already been accepted mentioned that the email says April 16 is the deadline to accept your place. However, the information online when I log in to check the status of my application says "the majority of foreign-educated applicants will receive decisions no later than early May."

My status has changed. On the very top of the page, it says congratulations and you've been admitted or something like that. I don't know when it changed though. I was accepted on February 13th.
Good luck!!

Hey all, for anyone in the same situation, I hadn’t heard back by last week and have acceptance deadlines coming up for other schools, so I sent them an email explaining my situation. I got an email admitting me to the General LLM the next day :)

I have still not heard from NYU with respect to my application. Any idea by when they inform all the candidates? Also, does this mean that there are less chances of acceptance considering lot of candidates have received admission news?

I don't think NYU has already informed all candidates. Also, the selection process takes longer for same courses. The Taxation program, for instance, still has very few admitted people (at least judging by the application tracker and comments on this thread).

Having said that, I guess that placing the first tuition deposit is kinda part of the process sometimes. I for myself am considering this option so I can hedge my bets on scholarships.
Good luck.
