Hey All,
I'm an Irish lawyer, tax consultant and trust and estate practitioner (STEP). I qualified a year ago. I love my job but part of me REALLY wants to study in the states and live in NYC for a while. I got a decent 2.1 law degree which put me in the top half of my class but truth be told I was far too concerned with enjoying myself in college. I really feel like I have the maturity to benefit hugely from the experience of doing an LLM in the States now. I want to apply for the tax LLM in NYU and the Banking Corporate and Securities LLM in Fordham for Fall 2011. It is a huge investment though, particularly as I would be leaving a job I enjoy, despite it not being terribly well paid. I would love to hear from others as to what they did after their LLM- work in the States or elsewhere for an American firm? I know it is difficult for a foreign lawyer to get a job in the States, but I will have two years experience and a first degree in Common Law and hopefully a Tax LLM from NYU? I would also like to know if you feel the investment has paid off? And another minor detail, if I have any chance of being accepted to either program?!
I would really appreciate your comments. Cheers!
NYU/Fordham- is it worth it? Will I get it?
