I got admitted to the NYU International Legal Studies Program, however no scholarship offered (waitlisted Berkeley and CLS, rejected Havard).
I had applied to other independent scholarships, none of which materialised due to the availability of a smaller number of scholarships (financial crisis) and due to massive competition. However, I was told that I had good chances to get a very well-funded scholarship next year. I currently have a good job working in International law.
I am considering trying to defer NYU, but I understand that this is only accepted on a case-by-case basis and comes with many constraints:
-prohibition to apply to other schools (who may offer a scholarship), non-eligibility to re-apply for NYU scholarships etc...
Rejection and re-application might look bad and might mean that I am not admitted.
Anyone knows whether deferrals due to financial difficulty have previously been considered? Perhaps any other suggestions?
