NYU Admitted Students 2008/09

Hafiz,
they've established May 1, 2008 as my deadline. However, this is the deadline for the offer itself, and not the scholarship. The scholarship may vanish sooner than that (because of the first-come, first-served policy), but they will still accept me by May 1 without the award.
Good luck for y'all!

No news from NYU yet :-(
I guess my chances of getting a scholarship are getting slimmer since apparently many people here have already received scholarships. Nevertheless, congrats to those receiving one, that's a great accomplishment! Just a small question out of curiosity (and because I'm clutching at straws ;-) ), are any you that have received scholarships/admission from Europe?

I've been admitted as well though without any scholarship...

I'll wait for replies from HLS, SLS and CLS and then decide :)

In order to secure a Dean's Award, one must sign this before sending the deposit:

"I intend to enroll at NYU School of Law in Fall 2008. I have no commitment to attend another law school, have not deferred enrollment at another law school, will not apply to another law school, and have withdrawn from other law schools to which I was admitted."

That means that those choosing to accept this will have to kiss goodbye SLS, HLS, YLS....

What do you think ?

Hey guys, congrats to those who have been admitted and good luck to those of who are still awaiting a response.

For the admittees, what were your credentials to get into NYU please and your age group?

I applied last September but have still not heard a reply yet. I am a bit worried.

Hi tellbulk,

I agree with you: the wait is too long. Haven't heard of NYU so far and am starting to worry.

I applied mid-November.

Good luck

PS: to those already admitted, congrats !!

I was admitted in early January to NYU@NUS and these were my credentials: I'm a US Student with 2 years of experience as a litigator with the Innocence Project of Florida (i.e. DNA exonerations). I was in the top 20% of a tier one law school. For extracurricular activities I was Chair of a regional planning commission and a mayoral transit advisor. I am well traveled and participated in a study abroad program while in law school. I have been published twice, was a Law Review editor, a moot court competition winner, was a research assistant to an acclaimed international scholar, and had recommendations from very well known and respected people. I also think I am considered a "minority" student.

Your chances are still reasonable for getting admitted. Despite signing a form promising to withdrawal applications, its important to note that the statement is legally unenforceable. Students just wont get their $500 back. NYU and Columbia are betting that at least some of their committed students are going to abruptly accept offers from Harvard/Yale/Stanford and leave open seats. The number of people who do so I suspect will directly equate to the number of offers sent out in early April.

I myself intend to go to NYU@NUS because I personally believe the program in International Law to be superior to that offered by Harvard, Yale, or Stanford. It would still be nice to be offered a spot in those other programs though ;)
