Like you said, to engage in discussions about "how many NYU LLMs will be working at this or that firm" is, I quote, "pointless and misleading". It really depends on the backgrounds and nationalities.
I would suggest not to look merely at the quantity, but at other factors too. Let's not forget that many firms hire people based on their country of origin (I know people from various schools who walked out of the job fair knowing that they aready got a job offer because they come from popular countries, and many firms want to hire people from those countries to build their business).
Not to mention that a more thorough search (more firms) would have given more conclusive results.
