Hello
I've applied to Northwestern in early december, and i was also interviewed by one member of their staff. Could anyone tell me how long it takes for them to issue a decision?

FYI, I completed my application in mid-Dec. and did not apply an interview. Just received notice today that I'm admitted. Its I-20 application deadline is Mar. 10 and the deposit deadline is Mar. 31. As the deadline is a bit early compared to that of other schools (eg. Georgetown: Apr. 3), I think you'll receive its notice any time soon.
Good luck!

Well, my application was completed in late October and I received a decision on January 10. The deadline for the deposit, in my case, is April 14 (I am almost sure), after Georgetown's. I didn't do the interview and I havent used LSAC.
Yen, did you apply for the Tax LLM? Just wondering why the dates are different.

Hey, Mr. LLM 06
I also applied LLM in Taxation. Have you got any news?

I applied to the General LLM and have been admitted. I thought Yen had applied to the Tax LLM, since the dates to confirm the place and make the deposit do not match.

they are not sendin emails to everyone..but all applicants can check ther decisions on th online application status check at th northwestern website..

They provided me with a student and applicant ID to log into my application status, but a few weeks ago it was shut down so that i've been unable to check out the decision. I know they've made a decision 'cause they've notified me so through e-mail today. I'm intrigued as to what the decision has been, that's why i sent them an e-mail explaining my problem. I hope they'll re-send me the decision over e-mail. I don't care if i was turned away, i just want to know for sure what decision they've arrived at, namely, whether i was accepted or not.

I've just received the good news that i got through Northwestern University LL.M. Program for the fall 2006. Now i have to make up my mind about which Law School to elect since i've been also admitted by Indiana University School of Law- Bloomington (plus a USD 6000), and GWU Law School. I find it difficult to decide as they're all fine schools. Also, i'm awaiting a reply from Michigan- Ann Arbor and Columbia; and if i'm accepted into these top-notch programs, determining which way to go could turn out to be more troublesome.

Congratulations! Northwestern is indeed a very good university. I am also facing some questions regarding which university to choose (still waiting for many others, tough).
Concerning your options up to now, I would have to say that, IN PRINCIPLE, Northwestern is the best choice (by far, in relation to IU - Bloomington). Nevertheless, if you want so specialize in IP Law, GW is, of course, your first option among these 3 universities.

Thank you for your feedback. I'll think it up. I'm concerned with the financial aid issue. I checked out on the northwestern application form that i wanted to be considered for financial aid. In that respect, how likely is it to receive their assistance? are there plenty of scholarships for international students? How many awards are granted and how much is it on average? If they hold 85 places for LL.Ms. what's the percent of this number receiving their help? What criteria do they resort to when assessing an applicant's worthwhileness?

Since I have not applied to any scholarship or financial aid, I only have general information, that is, if it is awarded based on merit, they will consider your grades, ranking in class etc. and necessity. But I have no specific information regarding NWU or any other university. Where are you from?

I'm from Dominican Republic in the Caribbean.

hey guys,
If i may add my tuppence worth in ur decision making....
I am a current LLM student at Northwestern- and its been a great experience ! definately beats the Indiana university (have met some students from there) and GWU (again know someone who attended GWU in 2005)
The Northwestern Experience is definately worth experiencing!! Its a lil sad for me that my year here is coming to a close soon:(
The added bonus is that NU is right by the best part of the Chicago downtown- one block from the famous Michigan Avenue- never a dull moment in Chicago!!
Oh, and university of chicago may be ranked (a lil;)) higher than NU- but NU is worth choosing over the Chicago since the LLMs get alot of attention here !
Come here its worth the experience- u wont regret it- i know that none of my classmates do!

Thanks Maurine for your experience sharing:)
I am wondering does NW still offer SJD degree?
I've known couple professors who earned their SJD at NW,
however, no admission information is availible on the website now.
Since you are a current student, do you have any ideas regarding this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Maurine, Let me express my gratitude for your lively account of the NU experience. I'll certainly keep it in mind as an uplifting information. It is very likely that i will engage in this law school this 2006 fall. However, for that to ocurr i'll have to settle down my financial situation. Though i'm a strong candidate for my government's scholarships, this aid alone will probably not meet up the whole tuition fee. You see, NU is one of the costliest universities in the US not only is it so for the tuition expenses but also for the city of chicago. In this respect, could you please throw light on how you approached the financial issue before enrolling last year? Did you take out a student loan? Were you awarded some merit scholarships? Further, Would you care to confide me your e-mail so that i can contact you in the near future for concerns?
Warm Regards,
Roberto

Dear Richardcjv
NU has an SJD program but the school does not post about this program on its website. I think it is about the school wants to keep the number of the SJD students small. The application form is the same one with the LLM, and you need to submit a proposal along with the form. Currently, there is only 2 SJD students at the school.

About the deadlines....Tax, General, and Kellog have different deadlines and different committees in considering the applications.
