Bit of a diificult situation:
Have a LLM but never got an LLB. North Carolina is the only state I know of which allows you to sit for the bar in this case except will not actually receive LLM until mid august although done with course and will graduate. NC says that they will no longer allow LLM's without LLB's to sit as of August 2005,.
So, I'm stuck. I was counting on taking the bar because at first I was told that as long as I received my degree 30 days after I took the bar, I would be ok. After applying and receiving confirmation for the bar, I was told that in fact, I was not eligible because August 2005 means, in fact, July 31 2005. I was just told of this last week!
To make matters worse I had a job lined up on condition I would pass NC's bar. Now that I can't even take the bar, the job offer no longer stands.
I'm stuck and am not sure what to do! I'm thinking of applying for a JD program but in the meantime I need a job or at least a way to extend my stay in the US. Any suggestions?
