LLM or ... ?

Aurelius

Hi,

as a European student, I consider doing an LLM in the USA (next year: 2007-08).

But I would like to follow a one-year program that is not too specialized. I mean: an LLM with only courses in the tax-law-field, for instance, is not what I am looking for...

So, my question is: what am I looking for? An ordinary LLM? Or something else?

Thank you

M.

Of course, I do not ask for a specific program, but for a collective name (like LLM)

so:
What I am looking for, is the collective name of:
- a 1-year program for graduated law students;
- with a program which is not specialized in 1 field of law

I don't understand your question. You are looking for an LLM but finding a different name ?

Actually, most LL.M. programs are general ones, if it's specialized it will be clearly stated in the application forms. Just browse through law schools' webpages and you'll find out, which ones offer a general LL.M (you can start with Harvard, Yale, Chicago, Columbia, Michigan, Virginia, Cornell, and Georgetown).

Yes indeed

there are different types of LLM.

there is the General LLM; there is the LLM in (for instance) international law

etcetera

thank you!

PS it seems to be mostly LLM's specializing in one field of law...
