LLM Advice..

sakar

I have graduated Law (Master's program considered for a Bachelor in the US) in South-Eastern Europe.
My grades are about 3.0 and I am about to take a TOEFL test.
I also have a Business Degree from the same university in Europe.
I am very confused which LLM program and/or university to apply in and in which ones I have best chances. My area of interest is IT Law, International Business Law and General LLM.
I need an advice - in which Universities in the US I have best chance to get admitted and can you give me an advice about funding my LLM as well.

Thanks to all in advance!

Most of the good schools will require 100iBT Toefl score. In the admission decision process, due consideration is also given to Letters of Recommendations from faculty; AND resume. Besides, one also need to carefully draft an essay and statement of purpose. Some schools also require a writing sample on any law subject.

If your recommendations are good and your resume is strong, with 100 score in TOEFL, you have a good chance of admission in almost every Tier III and IV law schools listed in usnews.com (top law schools). Besides, there is also a good possibility of admission in Tier I schools.

As regards funding, there are very few law schools where funding for international students is offered. You will need to study material at website of each law school before making an application.

Some examples where an application for admission and financial aid can be made are: University of Minnesotta - MN, Case Western Reserve University -OH, American University -DC, SMU - TX, Temple University - PA, Yeshiva University - NY,

nriattorney,
Thank you very much for your response
I have very good recommendations but my resume does not include any LAW practice since I have just graduated and I have been working as a Sales Mgr/ Bus Development for IT companies before I graduated the Law. So this is why my GPA is not that good and I am also one of the main people and Managing Dir of an International Chamber of commerce here in the US. This is all good but I am not sure how it refers to my LLM application and which of the above will have a positive influence on my application and which not.
I am really looking at the best schools, such as NYU and PennLaw and 2 UK universities. Do you still think I would be a good candidate for these schools with my various background?
Thanks again for your time and consideration.

You are welcome ES.
NYC and PennLaw prefer candidates with some professional experience; Schools like Yale and Harvard would prefer candidates who aim at academics after degree. they require good GPA and prefer some published work. Whatever I wrote was mainly for international students who have obtained their first law degree from some other country. The rules for American students would possibly differ.
