Hi everyone,
really hope someone can help me.
My background: I did an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Management at Imperial College and received a 2.1. Then I did a year of Paralegalling at a Medium sized UK firm. Then I studied for the GDL and got a pass mark of 56.9%. That year was a really tough year for personal reasons and was the reason behind the blip. I redeemed myself the following year studying for the Bar and passing with an average of 78.78%. I just finished the UK Bar and during my course I worked part time Paralegalling in a Real Estate boutique-type firm.
I've got Pro bono work experience, participated in 2 mooting competitions and am being called to the UK bar tomorrow!
I am also lining up some work exprerience in US law firms that have UK offices such as White and Case, King and Spalding etc.
My choices: Really would love to do an LLM somewhere in the States and have selected what I think is a varied level of law schools.
Harvard (just for a laugh)
Columbia (also worth having a go)
Boston
NYU
UCLA
USC
Cardozo
St Johns
Fordham
Questions:
What are anyone's thoughts on my choices? varied or not so?
Do I have a chance in getting in somewhere?
I am really worried about my results on the Graduate Diploma in Law because essentially once you've got that diploma you are eligible to apply for the LLM so I think a lot of focus will be on that. Obviously personal issues can be explained - I saw someone mention an addendum as opposed to including this in a personal statement? could you explain what you mean?
ANY thoughts/suggestions/general comments are welcome. I feel kinda blind going into this because no one in my surrounding world has decided to take this route so advice has been pretty limited.
Thanks!!
