I received the acceptance package from NYU today. I'm Japanese living in NYC. NYU sent this package yesterday by UPS. I guess many of you will receive results soon. Good luck!!

Miki: It is sad that we will not share a good nine-month time in the same class in Ithaca but during my time in the states I would love to visit Cornell if I have a chance as Cornell is one of the best schools I want to go. To reply your questions, I did not graduate from Thammasart University but Chulalongkorn University. I and my friend are both working in international law firms.

I have already written about this but I am happy to repeat. The deadline in Columbia is set on an individual basis. It depends on the time when admission e-mail was sent to a particular applicant. Therefore, if you are not comfortable not knowing the deadline, just call Columbia and find out your personal deadline.

Hello everyone.
Since last week, I have received notices of admisson to Cornell and NYU. I also caled HLS where I got rejected.
This means I'm in at Chicago, NYU, UPenn, Cornell, NWU and Georgetown. Still waiting for UMichigan and Columbia.
If I'm in at Columbia, I'm going there. If not, then it will be between Chicago and NYU.
Later today I'll e-mail the others to inform them that I'm not holding my place, so others can be accepted.
Any advice on a NYU-Chicago matchup?

Hi Dr_Jekyll,
Actually I will also have a difficult time choosing between Chicago and NYU if I am in at NYU (I haven't received any package from NYU yet). I believe that Chicago has a great program, small and interactive, unique in law&economics, and Chicago is one of the best cities in the U.S. Chicago is also ranked no.1 in its teaching quality, and bar admission ratio. On the other hand, NYU is more internationally known, popular. I know this much, and I cannot decide where to go. Chicago vs. Virginia is also a though one.
I wonder what do other LL.M candidates think about our dilemma, and especially about the University of Chicago?
Best regards,
Nazli

Hello,
Hmm hard choice between both...they are at the same level, but have different profiles. Which fields are you interested in ? Did you have a look at the Professors there ? NYU has a much bigger LLM Class (about 200) compared with Chicago (about 50). This would probably lead me to prefer Chicago (I'm in favour of the adage: small is beautiful), but I guess it depends on the courses you would like to attend. Have a look and think about the atmosphere you're expecting maybe.

Bitsou,
I think Chicago has the best professors, seriously it is ranked no.1 in its educational / faculty quality. It's very impressive. They also have a lot of courses I would like to attend. I'm still waiting for NYU's decision, but I really want to go to Chicago! The only problem is that they don't know Chicago in Turkey (and maybe in other European countries), NYU, Columbia and even Georgetown is more popular than Chicago. It is not easy to decide...

Hello,
Well, they have the best Professors depending upon the courses you feel like attending of course :); if you feel like doing IP or international law, I would prefer to go somewhere else if I can, but I don't know what you're interested in. But it is surely true that Chicago is the mother of the economic analysis of law, which we so much miss in Europe.
I also applied there for this reason and I find their curriculum and list of courses amazing.
If I were you, I wouldn't really bother whether Georgetown or NYU is more famous in Turkey than Chicago. I can feel you really feel like going there and you have the chance to have been admitted. So just go. Imagine you don't go there, I'm sure that you would be disappointed afterwards. Follow your instincts and go to Chicago; you won't have another opportunity in your life :)
Anyway, if you're worried about the fact that NYU is more famous in Turkey, you can always state in your CV afterwards that you were admitted there and explain why you chose Chicago (as we all know, what matters is to be admitted, not to get the diploma).
Kind Regards

Thanks a lot Bitsou! I'm interested in business / corporate law by the way...I also like IP law, but in Turkey IP law is not as attractive as it is in the U.S. Are you going to have LL.M in IP law? And, may I ask where you are from?

Hello again :)
If you're interested in corporate law, all top ten law schools are strong in that field anyway as it is a leading market. With their focus on the economic analysis of law, you can't make a bad choice in going to Chicago. You would regret not to go there, so don't hesitate :)
As for me, I'm from Switzerland and finally made up my mind (after a lot lot lot of hesitations) for Stanford. They have a special research program which sounds very interesting and, as an IP lawyer and academic, to be in Silicon Valley is ideal. The Law School is very small, and I like that as well.

Bitsou, Stanford is the best choice, congragulations! I've been to Stanford before, the campus is excellent, and San Francisco is a great city. But, you should definitely get a car since the public transportation was very poor as far as I remember, it may have changed though...Thanks a lot again for all the information!

I second that!San Fransisco is beautiful. And Stanford campus is so nice, the weather is perfect all year.I visited Stanford last April. But I could not afford it at all,so expensive, and also so difficult to get in,so I did not apply.

Hello.
This will probably be my last post on this topic. I finally received all my answers except one.
No answer from Michigan.
Denied admission at Harvard.
Admitted at Columbia, Chicago, NYU, UPenn, Cornell, Northwestern, Georgetown.
I decided to go to Columbia, which always was my first choice.
Good luck to all of you with your decisions and choices!

I just received the admission package from HLS delivered by FedEx yesterday. It is interesting that a list of all admitted students is included in the package. There are four from Belgium and four from Switzerland, one of which, I think, may be one of people in this forum.
Surprisingly, I found no LLM candidate from Mali in the list !!! :)

I can never understand why some people would ever want to lie about their admissions....
They probably are never law students...and all their credentials are made up....
Of course there are traces in their posts indicating a possible lie (overly imaginative); however, it is so hard to believe or understand why they lied....
Only the truth lasts.

Hello Chris,
Yes, I'm the student from Lausanne :), but I made up my mind for Stanford. Anyway, it's very interesting to see where all these people come from. That's the first thing I had a look at :). Where are you from ?
