Chris, Harvard sent me their postcard confirming that my file was complete in the last week of January, approximately.
I expressed to Harvard that I *needed* 10 000 and they replied that they couldnt give me anything. I think that scholarships are awarded on merit.

Congrats Tokyo Guy and good luck with Yale. I submitted my Harvard application in November; at that time my final year average was a high 2:1 (England). Now - after receiving last term's results - I have a 1st class average. I am wondering if Harvard would accept this 'update' to my transcript... or perhaps it's too late to submit anything else?
Thanks
Thanks

Hello everyone,
Has anyone applied to Arizona Unversity in the international trade program? Since we re talking about ranking, what's the ranking of this University in this type of llm?

Hey Tokyo guy!! Could you tell me the first letter of your surname, as Harvard may send the letters alphabetically.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Congratulations, everybody! This seems to be a pretty successful discussion board - or maybe only success is reported...
I am currently deciding, whether I should attend Duke or UPenn. If anybody has any thoughts on that, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey guys!
I am a little worried since I haven't yet received the blue postcard from HLS. I did receive the yellow one on the first days of December. I hope this is a post office problem, since I have a friend that never received the yellow one but did receive the blue one. Is someone in the same situation??
What do you recommend me to do??
Many thanks!!

Hello marcia,
don't worry, I am sure it must be a problem with the post - you can always phone them and let them know, just in case something is missing from your application (because the blue card indicates that), so they can let you know. This way you be more calm!:)

Marcia,
I only received one card from Harvard (most people received two) and it didnt seem to hurt my admission. In any event, my understanding is that Harvard already mailed out their admission decisions to 200 candidates via international priority mail (mine arrived in two days to Tokyo) and all that remains is for them to make a wait list in the event that a lot of admitted candidates dont accept the offer (or can't afford to attend!).
I think the program has 150 places.

Hi all, I had an even stranger experience from Harvard admissions! One month ago, they send me a card saying that my application was incomplete: I was missing an English translation of my grades (because my transcript is from Mali) and I also forgot to answer one of the questions in the essays. In truth, I didnât know what to write for part A and I left it blank, hoping they wouldnât notice.
When Harvard wrote that I was missing these things, I was travelling and I didnât receive their letter. However, I got the good news (admission1!!) yesterday â¦. So I guess that if your application was missing things, it doesnât really matter in their decision.

HI,
Congratulations for your acceptance letter to Harvard.
Seems like everybody got its admission but me :-(((
I do not get it... you leave a blank question in your application form, and you still get accepted to HLS !!!
You must be EXCELLENT !
OK, I think that I should stop trying to understand the rationale behind the application process... I just wait, wait and wait.
Anyway, thanks to all of you who are sharing their latest news !

Congratulations to all of you!! I have only one thing to say: If you "want" something and at the same time you "deserve" it, it will come. Also it has to be good for you. If it does not happen, it means you are destined to something else which for yourself and your goals, is by far superior-it will help you more. You have to see both the acceptances and the rejections with a smile and an open mind, because either is for your own good! Good luck to everyone!xxxxxxxxx

I have still not heard from Columbia and I kind of put all my eggs in the Columbia basket because of it great rep in int'l law. Have others like bonobo heard any news? I will start panicking if I don't hear from them by early next week.
Congrats to those that have received acceptance letters.

Iclmar, I think that you're absolutely right. You have to go with the flow, and take things as they come. Most importantly, learn from them!
I got rejected from all these schools last year, but this year when I applied I did it differently and things are looking bright so far.
If you dont get admitted, take a year of to think about why you didnt get in, and use this fresh perspective to have a better application next year. For me, it was changing the focus of my personal statement from my career objectives (working in IP law, specificallly the music industry and rap) and focusing instead on me underpriviledged upbringing.
I felt as if my unique ability to make magic flow from my pen would not credence to my story of learning to read and write by myself after finding a book in the Kalahari desert. So I payed a home-schooled high school student $50 to write it for me. It read as if he had absolutely no formal writing education at all! I think it definitely helped.
I hope you find something that works for you too!

Sage,
I think you can still apply to NYU, Georgetown and Penn ... I might be mistaken, but I believe their deadline is March 1st. They are ranked 1st, 4th and 14th, respectively, in international and comparative law. This is based on the faculty quality ranking by Brian Leiter. All are excellent top tier universities in other areas of law as well.
If I were in your position, I would apply via overnight mail immediately or, better yet, use their online application.

Can you still apply to NYU? Because I did not and I have regreted it.
Posted Feb 25, 2005 23:47
I apologize for suggesting that you could still apply to NYU. It appears that the April 1st deadline is only for North American candidates like myself. Those overseas had to mail their application by January 1st.

Douche:)
You brought smiles in my face! Because I have been thinking, that this is exactly what I will do. If I don't get in, I will take the year off and work, do things that will help me and then try again! Eventually it will come!Thank you!

Iclmar:
Yes! Get work experience, walk the earth, find yourself, and approach your applications differently next year. Get some better letters of recommendation, maybe add a video or audiotape of yourself (I sent them my music CD) and find an original angle for your personal statement. I bet that 90% of applicants write vapid statements about how they want to do âhumanitarian lawâ, or âinternational human rightsâ etc ⦠I think people in admissions offices are sick to the stomach of reading this drivel day in, day out. They know all you want is that degree to hang on your wall so you can make a lot of dough!
You need something fresh! You need to stand out among all these people with super academic credentials. I certainly didnât have the grades, but I made sure that my application was different and memorable.
